The Sandbag House Reno Record - a little bit more of this and a little bit more of that, inside and out, in the sky and on the ground

It's been a big week at The Sandbag House.

In the "sky"

I shared my delight on Tuesday about the bulk of the roof having been completed and then was surprised on Wednesday when B and his son arrived to finish most of the roof.

Painted roof from the garden

We laughed: they decided that it had to be done because from the top of the hill, it looked so unfinished. Vanity got the better of us all!

Long St over the village and valley

Speaking of the top of the hill, above is the view looking south, and before you turn west to look down the road at The Sandbag House.

Down the street where I live - and my "new" roof

The roof is mostly complete. It's just the short stretch of the veranda roof at the end of the gable end that needs a final coat and that will wait until the exterior, including the window frames are done. Rightly, B doesn't want white and black paint spatter on his "new" roof.

Inside

Basic painting preparation has begun in the void.

The jury has gone out on the exposed rafters.

They'll stay exposed, but I had originally said they should be white. I'm still thinking that they should be white.

Primed room 3

One wall remains, needing attention because it is into this wall that the door to the bathroom must go, and light switches for both the bathroom and the stairs to its right. This also necessitates moving a hand basin and redirecting water pipes and plumbing.

On the ground

Today was about the garden and starting the process of turning the corner of the garden into something pretty and easy to manage.

Part of this includes ensuring that the irrigation dam is not confused as a swimming pool. Not even for a cooling plunge. My gardener has created a "hok" for the pump and today we sorted - thinned and dug up errant - wild iris (dietes) from another part of the garden to create a new bed around the leiwater dam. image.png

If more happens tomorrow which I somehow think it won't, I'll report back next week.
