Thursday things are often in and of the garden. Yesterday was no different.

These roses survived Wednesday's 38°C sun and berg (hot, mountain) wind. The red are Dustwolke and the salmon, Pat's Choice.

Last year, I acquired a pair of asparagus plants. E even though I have never grown them, I have long wanted to. I know that establishing them takes a while and it's around four years until one gets "proper" spears. This year, there have been micro spears. One needs to trim them to encourage growth.

Not being one to waste and curious to taste my own garden produce, the first little picking went into a pasta supper. This equally small picking became part of a herb omelette supper. The herbs of choice: lemon balm (melissa), chives and tarragon.

The side dish was roasted vegetables on green beans on a gorgeous Trish O'Keefe plate.

As an aside, a little bird tells me she's potting again. I can't wait to see her new creations.
Until next time
