I suffered an injury to my left knee that has kept me away from cycling for a while, but little by little, I've been improving. This time, I want to share the maintenance I performed on a small bicycle. It belongs to a nephew and needed some changes. I want to share with you the maintenance I performed on it and the purchases I had to make at the bike shop. I hope you enjoy.
Hola queridos amigos, espero que se encuentren muy bien, tenía tiempo sin publicar en esta hermosa comunidad que siempre abre sus puertas virtuales para compartir la pasión por las bicicletas. He sufrido una lesión en la rodilla izquierda que me ha llevado alejarme un poco de la bicicleta pero poco a poco he ido mejorando. En esta oportunidad quiero compartir el mantenimiento que hice a una bicicleta pequeña, le pertenece a un sobrino y necesitaba algunos cambios. Quiero compartir con ustedes el mantenimiento que le hice y las compras que tuve que hacer en la tienda de bicicletas, espero que les guste.

As I mentioned before, I needed to service a small bike. It belongs to my 10-year-old nephew. This bike uses size 16 wheels. Its inner tubes had lots of holes and the rear tire was worn out. As you can see, the cracks were already very large and were easily coming off. This meant that the tire's useful life was coming to an end. The bearings were also bad and lacking lubrication, so I had to buy a new tire, an inner tube, and possibly a new bearing axle.
Como dije antes, debía hacer mantenimiento a una bicicleta pequeña, pertenece a mi sobrino de 10 años, esta bicicleta utiliza ruedas número 16. Sus cámaras de aires tenían muchos agujeros y el caucho trasero estaba vencido, como pueden observar las grietas que tenían ya eran muy grande, ademas de eso se desprendían con facilidad, eso quiere decir que la vida útil del caucho ya estaba llegando a su fin. También los rodamientos estaban malos y sin lubricación, de manera que debía hacer las compras de un caucho, una cámara de aire y posiblemente un eje de rodamiento nuevo.

After disassembling the small bike, I prepared to head downtown so I could buy what I needed. I left very early so the weather was cool and friendly. The ride was peaceful, but I witnessed an accident on a road. An elderly man was hit by a car. I was about 100 meters away. I didn't want to get too close, but then I saw on the news that the elderly man had died. It was a very sad thing to witness.
Después de desarmar la pequeña bicicleta, me preparé para ir hacia el centro de la ciudad y así poder comprar lo que necesitaba, salí muy temprano así que el clima estaba fresco y amigable, el trayecto fue tranquilo pero fui testigo de un accidente en una avenida. Un hombre anciano fue atropellado, yo estaba a 100 metros de distancia aproximadamente, no quise acercarme, pero luego vi en las noticias que el señor anciano falleció, fue algo muy lamentable de haber contemplado.

I went around to several spare parts stores, mainly looking for more affordable prices. I found a store that had only recently opened. I was amazed by the quantity and variety of bicycles they had, at very good prices. I took the opportunity to ask around and look at parts for my road bike, and the prices were affordable. In the end, I ordered a new size 16 tire, which I ordered for road use since the other tire on the bike is the same. I also ordered a new inner tube.
Recorrí varias tiendas de repuestos, buscando principalmente precios más accesibles. encontre una tienda que tiene muy poco tiempo de haber sido inaugurada, quedé maravillado con la cantidad y la variedad de bicicletas que tienen, a muy buenos precios. Aproveche de preguntar y ver piezas para mi bicicleta de ruta, y los precios si eran accesibles, al final pedí un caucho nuevo número 16, lo pedí para carretera ya que el otro caucho que tiene la bicicleta es igual, también pedí una cámara de aire nueva.

On the way back, I had a big surprise: they started building a bike path in the city center. This project had been discussed for many years until it was finally realized. I was delighted to see how the work was progressing and decided to try one of the paths. The ride was wonderful; I met people coming in the opposite direction. I think this is a great step forward for the culture and respect for cycling.
En la ruta de regreso me lleve una gran sorpresa, comenzaron a hacer la ciclovía en el centro de la ciudad. Este proyecto tenía muchos años discutiéndose, hasta que por fin se ha logrado, me alegré mucho al ver como van los trabajos y decidí probar una de las vías, el trayecto fue maravilloso, encontre personas que venían en sentido contrario. Creo que este es un gran avance para la cultura y respeto al ciclismo.

Upon returning, the first thing I did was fix the front wheel's inner tube. It only had a small hole, so I patched it. After that, I started lubricating the rear wheel bearings with grease, making sure to clean them thoroughly, and then putting them back in place.
Al regresar lo primero que hice fue arreglar la cámara de aire de la rueda delantera, solo tenía un pequeño agujero así que le puse un parche. Luego de eso comencé a lubricar con grasa los rodamientos de la rueda trasera, me asegure de limpiarlos muy bien y luego ponerlos en su sitio.

Once that was done, I took the new tire and inner tube and mounted them on the rear wheel. I began aligning the wheels, fine-tuning the brakes, and tightening the bearings tightly to the bike frame. Finally, I started pumping air into each tire to get it completely ready.
Una vez hecho lo anterior, tomé el caucho nuevo y la cámara de aire y las monté encima de la rueda trasera. Comencé a alinear las ruedas, calibrar mejor los frenos y a pretar muy bien los rodamientos en el cuadro de la bicicleta. Para finalizar comencé a echar áire en cada una de las ruedas para dejarla completamente lista.
So the bike was ready and fixed. My nephew was very happy with it. The only bad thing was that I couldn't take any pictures because his uncle drove it in his car. However, he seemed very happy, and he said he hadn't ridden for a while because it had been damaged for months. I hope you enjoyed this experience; for me, it was great. The best thing of all was having enjoyed the bike path for a bit. I'm planning a new ride to explore the sections of the bike path and share them with you. Así quedó la bicicleta lista y arreglada, mi sobrino se la llevó muy contento, lo unico malo e sque no pude tomarle fotos porque su tio la llevo en su carro, sin embargo se mostró muy contento, al igual que yo dice que tenía tiempo sin manejar ya que tenía meses dañada. Espero les haya gustado esta experiencia, para mi genial, lo mejor de todo haber disfrutado un pcoo d ela ciclovía. Tengo pendiente un nuevo paseo para conocer los tramos de la ciclovía y compartir con ustedes, por ahora me despido y será hasta una pronta oportunidad.
