On this occasion, I want to share with you a very special and spiritual jewel. It is the Flower of Life symbol. According to sacred geometry, it is a geometric pattern that symbolizes the interconnectedness of all life in the universe, representing the origin and creation of all that exists. Therefore, it becomes a meaning of the union of all in nature. It has been represented by many cultures since ancient times, such as the Egyptian empire of the pharaohs. Its presence in various civilizations suggests that sacred geometry and its symbols have a universal meaning, transcending time and cultural boundaries. And this unity of all nature, which transcends time and space, is now manifested in my execution of this beautiful symbol through wood carving. Hola queridos amigos de Jewelry, espero se encuentren muy bien en este día Viernes, donde muchos nos preparamos para descansar y otros para seguir creando. En esta oportuniad quiero compartir con ustedes una joya muy especial y espiritual, se trata de el símbolo de La Flor de la Vida, un símbolo que según la geometría sagrada es un patrón geométrico que simboliza la interconexión de toda la vida en el universo, representando el origen y la creación de todo lo que existe. Por lo que se transforma en un significado de la unión del todo en la naturaleza. Ha sido representado por muchas culturas desde épocas muy antiguas, como el imperio egipcio de los faraones. Su presencia en diversas civilizaciones sugiere que la geometría sagrada y sus símbolos tienen un significado universal, trascendiendo el tiempo y las fronteras culturales. Y esa unidad de toda la naturaleza que trasciende tiempo y espacio se manifiesta ahora en la ejecución de mi parte a través del tallado de madera la realización de este bello símbolo. First, I prepared the wood for the symbol. I had some wood I'd already cut a while back, but it was very thick, so I had to find something that would work for my purpose. So, I took some measurements and cut the wood about 3 millimeters thick. This way, it would be easier to carve the wood.
En primer lugar lo que hice fue preparar la madera para hacer el símbolo, tenía una madera ya cortada de hace tiempo atrás peor era muy gruesa así que tuve que sacar una que sirviera a mi propósito. Así que hice unas mediciones e hice un corte a la madera de unos 3 milímetros de grosor, de esta manera será más fácil hacer el tallado en la madera.

After having the wood almost finished, all that was missing was the silhouette of the flower of life. Instead of taking a risk and drawing it directly, I decided to draw it on cardboard and then use it as a stencil. The reason for this decision is that wood has small gaps where the pencil tip can slip, causing an uneven line. So by drawing a stencil, I avoid this small problem and can make the line safely thanks to the cutout in the stencil.
Después de tener la madera casi lista solo faltaba la silueta de la flor de la vida. En lugar de arriesgarme y dibujarla directamente, decidí hacerla en una cartulina, y luego usarla como una plantilla, la razón de esta decisión es que la madera tiene pequeñas rendijas por las cuales puede resbalar la punta del lápiz, esto causaría un trazo accidentado. Así que al dibujar una plantilla me ahorro este pequeño problema y puedo hacer el trazo con seguridad gracias al corte en la plantilla.

The Flower of Life consists of multiple overlapping circles that intertwine to form a flower with 19 full circles and 36 partial arcs. Although only five circles were used at the base of the drawing for this small piece, it is the star shape that gives it. To begin the carving, I use three different blades, with varying sizes and tips. I use the finest blade to carve the circles into the interior of the piece.
La flor de la vida consiste en múltiples círculos superpuestos que se entrelazan para formar una flor con 19 círculos completos y 36 arcos parciales. Aunque para efectos de esta pequeña pieza solo se utilizaron en la base del dibujo 5 círculos, es por ello que tiene la forma de una estrella. Así que para comenzar el tallado utilizo 3 diferentes cuchillas, con tamaños y puntas diferentes, con la más fina de todas comienzo a tallar los círculos en el interior de la pieza.

Next, the intermediate level of the flower. For this, I switch to a slightly wider, sharper blade. I gradually remove the wood until I complete each of the drawn circles. Here you can see what it looks like up to this point. It's definitely a very relaxing task, I could say it's something magical.
Seguidamente el nivel inetrmedio de la flor, para esto cambio la cuchilla para la que es un poco más ancha y puntiaguda, poco a poco voy extrayendo la madera hasta ir completando cada uno de los círculos dibujados. Aquí se puede observar como luce hasta este punto, sin duda es una tarea muy relajante, podría decir que es algo mágico.

Finally, the third level of the flower of life, or its last petals. Here I use the same blade because it's easier to maneuver. One of the reasons I start carving from the center of the wood is to prevent cracking. If I begin by carving the circle of the figure first and work toward the center, the wood loses density and a crack is sure to appear, damaging the entire work. So, by keeping the wood in a square and starting from the center, this accident is less likely to occur.
Por último el tercer nivel de la flor de la vida, o lo que sería igual, sus últimos pétalos. Aquí utilizo la misma cuchilla ya que se puede maniobrar mejor. Una de las razones por las cuales comienzo a tallar desde el centro de la madera es para que no se agriete. si comienzo haciendo en primer lugar el círculo de la figura y desde ahí voy hacia el centro, al perder densidad la amdera es seguro que una grieta aparezca dañando todo el trabajo. Así que conservando la madera en un cuadro y comenzando desde el centro es menos probable que ocurra ese accidente.

After finishing carving the piece, I began polishing the entire wood with 180-grit sandpaper until it was shiny and smooth. Next, as you can see, it was time to varnish it. I gave it two coats and let it dry for half an hour between each coat, and that's how it was finished.
Al finalizar el tallado de la pieza, comencé a pulir toda la madera con una lija 180, hasta que quedara brillante y suave. Seguidamente, como pueden observar tocaba el barniz, le di dos baños, y dejé secar por media hora entre cada baño de barníz, y así quedó finalizado.
FINAL WORK
This is how the five-petaled Flower of Life was completed, a very delicate piece but deeply meaningful. The symmetry and balance of the Flower of Life are a metaphor for the need for harmony in our daily lives. This symbol can inspire us to seek balance between work and rest, between our needs and those of others, and to maintain a balanced perspective in the face of challenges. As one circle overlaps another, a new pattern is created. Our actions and decisions not only affect us but also have a domino effect on others. We are not islands but social beings. Así quedó finalizada la flor de la vida de 5 pétalos, una pieza muy fina pero con mucho significado. La simetría y el equilibrio de la Flor de la Vida son una metáfora de la necesidad de armonía en nuestra vida diaria, este símbolo nos puede inspirar a buscar el equilibrio entre el trabajo y el descanso, entre nuestras necesidades y las de los demás, y a mantener una perspectiva equilibrada ante los desafíos. A medida que un círculo se superpone a otro, se crea un nuevo patrón, nuestras acciones y decisiones no solo nos afectan a nosotros, sino que también tienen un efecto dominó en los demás, no somos islas sino seres sociales.
