Hello dear friends, I hope you are all well. I send my greetings to all the artists and artists in this community, and to all anime lovers. This time I want to share a drawing I made of a very, very well-known creature. It's Gengar, one of the many creatures that exist in the Pokémon universe. This friend is a ghost/poison type Pokémon, and belongs to the first generation. It has a sinister and scary personality, especially in the wild, and at night it comes out to scare and deceive travelers in order to steal their souls. Gengar is the later evolution of Haunter. I made this drawing on gray cardboard, since I wanted to make it full color and with a 3D appearance. I hope you like it. Join me step by step. Let's begin!
Hola queridos amigos, espero que se encuentren muy bien, envío mis saludos para todos los artistas y dibujantes de esta comunidad y para todos los amantes del anime, en esta oportunidad les quiero compartir un dibujo que hice de una criatura muy muy conocida. Se trata de Gengar, una de las tantas criaturas que existen en el universo Pokémon, este amigo es un pokemón tipo fantasma/veneno, y pertenece a la primera generación. Tiene una personalidad siniestra y tenebrosa, sobre todo en estado salvaje y por las noches sale a espantar y perder a los viajeros para robar sus almas, Gengar es la evolución posterior de Haunter. Este dibujo lo hice en una cartulina de color gris, ya que quería hacerlo full color y con una apariencia 3D, espero que les guste, acompáñame en el paso a paso. ¡Comenzamos!

I started the drawing, as I mentioned before, on gray cardstock. A dark background helps a lot to make the drawing more realistic and give it a 3D effect. I sketch the entire figure using a 2B pencil, which is darker and can be seen on the surface. The lines can then be followed to outline.
Comencé el dibujo como dije antes en una cartulina de color gris, cuando el fondo es de un color oscuro ayuda mucho a que el dibujo pueda quedar más realista con efecto 3D. Hago un boceto con toda la figura utilizando un lápiz 2B que es más oscuro y puede verse en la superficie y luego puede seguirse el trazo para delinear.

Gengar, being a Ghost-type Pokémon, is purple, so I use the full range of colors available. I start by painting with light shades like lilac and then gradually add darker shades until I reach purple where it gets darker.
Gengar al ser un pokemón tipo fantasma su color es púrpura por lo que utilizo toda la gama que tengo disponible de este color. Comienzo pintando con tonos claros como el lila y así voy agregando los tonos más oscuros hasta el púrpura en aquellas partes donde va oscureciendo.

So, using these same colors, I paint the upper part. Gengar isn't an anthropomorphic creature; it's a sort of circular figure with arms, legs, and ears, so its head would make up almost 70% of its body. So, as I paint, I choose where the light is reflecting from, and then I paint the lighter parts, while the darker parts are on the opposite side.
Así con estos mismos colores voy pintando la parte superior. Gengar no es una criatura antropomórfica, es una especie de figura circular con brazos, piernas y oídos, por lo que su cabeza vendría a ser casi el 70% de su cuerpo. Así que mientras voy pintando voy eligiendo de que lugar viene el reflejo de la luz y así pintar más claro y en el lado contrario las partes más oscuras.

And as the ancient wisdom says: As above, so below. Just as I painted the upper part, I paint the lower part of the body, including its limbs. Here I use a combination of purple and dark blue to achieve a deeper shadow.
Y como dice la antigua sabiduría: Como es arriba, también es abajo. De la misma forma que pinte en la parte superior pinto la parte inferior del cuerpo, que incluye sus extremidades. Aquí utilizo una combinación de púrpura unido a un azul oscuro para lograr que la parte de sombra sea más profunda.

Something I always use in my drawings, and one of my best techniques, is blending the colors I've used. With a brush dipped in mineral oil, I blend the colors. This helps the pigment contrast better and the colors blend together. So, I apply this technique to my drawing, which will make the 3D effect even more visually appealing.
Algo que siempre utilizo en mis dibujos y que es mi mejor técnica es difuminar los colores que he utilizado. Con pincel remojado en aceite mineral voy difuminando los colores, eso ayuda a que el pigmento tenga mejor contraste y los colores se mezclen unos con otros. Así que aplico esta técnica a mi dibujo lo que hará que el efecto 3D sea aun mejor a la vista.

Then I add small details that will bring the drawing to life. For the eyes and the sinister smile, I use a layer of white paint, on top of which I begin painting the eyes. Here, I use very warm colors, like orange and red, to make them stand out.
Despues voy agregando detalles pequeños pero que haran que el dibuje cobre vida. Para los ojos y la macabra sonrisa utilizo una capa de pintura blanca, encima de la cual comenzaré a pintar los ojos. Aquí utilizo colores muy cálidos para que resalten como naranja y también el rojo.

Next, I outline the teeth of Gengar's enormous, macabre grin using a very fine-tipped black marker. Then, I outline the edges of the drawing so it's more visible, and with white paint, I add some light reflections. That's how Gengar is finished.
Después voy delineando los dientes de la enorme y macabra sonrisa de Gengar, utilizando un marcador de punta muy fina de color negro. Luego los bordes del dibujo para que el dibujo se peuda apreciar mejor, y con pintura blanca hago algunas líneas de reflejos de luz. Así Gengar ha quedado finalizado.
FINAL WORK
I hope you enjoyed this drawing of Gengar as much as I did. This character has always captured my imagination since I discovered the world of Pokémon. The creative process of this piece was a very personal experience; every stroke and every color was a way of remembering all my fanaticism for this series. I remember spending many sketchbooks painting the 150 Pokémon that came out in the first generation.
