Hello dear friends, artists, and illustrators, I hope you are all doing well. I've been practicing drawing hands a bit; it's one of the things I've struggled with the most over time, so I've decided to practice it more often and in different ways. Reading in many online groups, I've learned that drawing hands is one of the most difficult aspects for some artists. Here I've created a drawing on black cardstock of a male hand holding female hands. The drawing was done with white charcoal pencil and white wax crayons, the kind used in schools. Without further ado, I'll briefly show you the process below. Let's begin!

Estuve practicando un poco el dibujar manos, es una de las cosas que más me ha costado dominar con el tiempo, así que he decidido practicarlo un poco más seguido y de diferentes formas. Leyendo en muchos grupos de internet me he enterado que esta es una de las facetas que más les cuesta a algunos dibujantes, el poder dibujar manos. Aquí he realizado un dibujo en cartulina negra de una mano masculinas sosteniendo a unas manos femeninas, el dibujo esta hecho con lápiz carboncillo blanco y también lápiz blanco de cera, de esos colores que son escolares. Sin más nada que agregar les muestro el proceso a continuación de una forma breve. Comencemos!

I started sketching the hands, especially the outlines. For this, I used a white school crayon, but the difference is that I used a low-quality crayon. However, because it's white and I'm applying it to black paper, even though it's low quality, it still creates the lines quite well. So I keep changing the white crayon depending on the result I want to achieve. In this case, it's just the sketch, and I'll use it later for the small details.
Comencé a hacer un boceto de las manos, especialmente las líneas de los bordes, para eso utilicé un color blanco de cera escolar, pero la diferencia es que utilicé un color que no es de buena calidad, sin embargo, al ser de color blanco y ser puesto sobre papel negro, aunque sea de una baja calidad, puede hacer muy bien los trazos. Así que voy cambiando de color blanco según el resultado que quiero obtener, este caso es solo el boceto y me servirá luego para hacer los pequeños detalles.

After sketching the palms, each finger, and a bit of the forearm, I begin to color inwards with a white Prismacolor crayon. The quality of the material changes drastically compared to the previous color. I use the Prismacolor to fill in the entire drawing and to make the first strokes of the details. For example, the male hand is exerting force to hold the female hands, so the tendons and knuckles are very prominent, and I use this color to gradually accentuate these details.
Luego de que he realizado el boceto de la palma de las manos, cada uno de los dedos y así un poco de la parte del antebrazo comienzo a pintar hacia el interior del dibujo con un color blanco de cera prismacolor, aquí la calidad del material cambia drásticamente en comparación con el color anterior. Con el color prismacolor vendría a rellenar todo lo que sería el dibujo y me serviría para hacer los primeros trazos de los detalles, por ejemplo la mano masculina está ejerciendo fuerza al sostener las manos femeninas, por lo que los tendones se ven muy marcados así también los nudillos y es con este color que comienzo a acentuar poco a poco esos detalles.

Now that the previous step is complete, the details of the male hand are outlined, and the final white color can be applied. In this case, it's charcoal white, the strongest color, as strong as acrylic paint. With this color, you can see how the highlights and shadows are more defined, which helps to clearly define the tendons and convey the pressure of the force. This charcoal white is undoubtedly impressive for achieving these results.
Ahora al terminar el paso anterior, los detalles de la mano masculinas han quedado marcado y se puede aplicar el último color blanco, que en este caso es blanco carboncillo, este blanco es el más fuerte, tanto como la pintura acrílica. Así que con este color pueden observar como las luces y las sombras se pueden marcar más, lo que ayuda a que los detalles de los tendones se marcan con mucha firmeza, y se puede notar la presión de la fuerza. Sin duda que este color carboncillo es impresionante para conseguir estos resultados.

Upon finishing the male hand, the result is impressive; the difference is very noticeable. Using the same technique, I begin painting the female hand, which is in front and more visible. Unlike the previous hand, this one has a visible palm and loose fingers, so I have to gradually accentuate the details of the palm.
Al finalizar la mano masculina el resultado es impresionante, la diferencia es muy palpable a la vista, y con esta misma técnica comienzo a pintar la mano femenina que está delante y más visible. Al contrairo de la mano anterior, esta mano tiene la palma visible y los dedos sueltos, así que hay que acentuar poco a poco los detalles de la palma de la mano.

Then I make each of the fingers of the woman's hand more visible, and in the same way I paint the hand visible in the background. Up to this point, I go over each of the previous steps again to give the drawing better contrast and volume. Although the paper is black, it's always good to accentuate some shadows using black, so that, for example, the tendons and knuckles of the man's hand are more clearly visible, highlighting the force he exerts.
Luego voy haciendo cada uno de los dedos de la mano femenina más visible, y de la misma forma pinto la mano que se ve en la parte de atras. Hasta este punto lo que hago es volver a repasar cada uno de los procesos realizados anteriormente para que el dibujo tenga mejor contraste y a la vez volumen. Aunque el papel es negro siempre es bueno acentuar algunas sombra utilizando color negro, de manera que por ejemplo, donde estan los tendones de la mano masculina y los nudillos se peude apreciar mejor la fuerza que ejerce.
FINAL WORK
What did you think of the final result? It wasn't necessary to use white acrylic paint, as in previous cases where I did because the situation required it. However, here the colors I used were sufficient; each with a different intensity helped achieve the desired result. I think it was a good result, and it encourages me to continue practicing drawing hands in different poses. I hope you liked it; it was a pleasure for me to share it with you. ¿Qué les ha parecido el final? no fue necesario utilizar pintura acrílica de color blanco, como en casos anteriores donde si la utilicé porque el caso lo necesitaba. sin embargo aquí fue suficiente con los colores utilizados, cada uno con intensidad diferente ayudó a conseguir el reusltado deseado. Considero que fue un buen resultado, y me da ánimos para seguir practicando las manos en difernetes poses.
