Hello dear friends, I hope you are all doing well. It is a great pleasure for me to greet you, especially all the aliens and all the amazing artists who participate in the Splinterlands art contest every week. This week I want to participate by contributing ideas for a new character. Its form is a scarecrow with a large scythe. I have named it The Reaper. This character focuses on the concept that the scarecrow is a vengeful spirit or a pest that destroys the harvest instead of protecting it. This card could be a creature of Death or Corrupted Nature. It has several abilities that terrify its enemies on the battlefield, such as "Glare of Terror," which paralyzes the enemy, and "Harvest Manipulation." The Reaper can use these abilities to grab and strangle enemies, or to drag them into position, preventing them from escaping from close combat. And finally, his terrifying, sharp scythe, which can cut through anything and also fire energy blasts. I designed this character with those three abilities in mind. I used colored pencils to draw him, with a sunset in the background because this creature begins to revive at night to attack. I hope you like it.
Hola queridos amigos, espero que se encuentren todos muy bien, para mi es un gran placer saludar, especialmente a todos los aliens y a todos aquellos increíbles artistas que cada semanan participan en el concurso de Splinterlands en cuanto al arte. Para esta semana quiero participar aportando ideas para un personaje nuevo, su forma es un espantapájaros con una gran guadaña, le he puesto por nombre El Segador, este personaje se enfoca en el concepto de que el espantapájaros es un espíritu vengativo o una plaga que destruye la cosecha en lugar de protegerla. Esta carta podría ser de una criatura de la Muerte o de la Naturaleza Corrupta, posee una serie de habilidades que aterrorizan a sus enemigos en el campo de batalla, como la "Mirada de terror" paralizar al enemigo, "Manipular la Cosecha" El Segador puede usarlas para agarrar y estrangular a los enemigos, o para arrastrarlos a su posición, impidiendo que escapen del combate cuerpo a cuerpo. Y por último su aterradora y afilada guadaña la cual puede cortar todo y también lanzar disparos de energía. Hice a este personaje pensando en esas tres habilidades, para dibujarlo utilicé lápices de colores y al fondo un atardecer porque este ser comienza a revivir por las noches para atacar, espero que les guste.

I used white Opalina cardstock. Since I was going to use Prismacolor wax crayons, I chose this cardstock, which absorbs colors very well, especially when mixed with oil. For the drawing, I made a very simple sketch with lines, and the body model was made of him advancing through the cornfield, carrying the heavy scythe with both hands.
Utilicé una cartulina Opalina de color blanco, como iba a usar colores de cera prismacolor, tomé esta cartulina la cual los absorbe muy bien, especialmente cuando se mezclan con aceite. Para el dibujo hice un boceto muy simple con líneas, y el modelo del cuerpo lo hice avanzando por el campo de maíz cargando la pesada guadaña con ambas manos.

The first of his powers, the look of terror, which can paralyze his enemies and give him an advantage in hand-to-hand combat. For that terrifying look, I use yellow because I want it to stand out. Since his head is a pumpkin, I want his eyes to look like fire, as well as his macabre smile. And to add contrast, I add a bit of orange around the edges, so the color fades from light to dark.
El primero de sus poderes, la mirada de terror, la que puede paralizar a sus enemigos y darle ventaja en el combate cuerpo a cuerpo. Para esa mirada aterradora utilizo el amarillo, porque quiero que resalte, ya que su cabeza es una calabaza, quiero que sus ojos parezcan de fuego, así también su macabara sonrisa. Y para agregar contraste, en las orillas voy poniendo un poco de tono naranja, así el color va degrandando desde lo claro hasta lo oscuro.

Next, I start painting his head, which I mentioned earlier was a pumpkin. So I mix a few colors, starting with yellow as the base, then adding more shades. The next shade is orange, and with red, I make the lines that the pumpkins have. Finally, I add dark brown to darken and create the shadows so it looks a little more realistic.
Después comienzo a pintar su cabeza, la cual dije anteriormente que era una calabaza, así que mezclo algunos colores, empezando por el amarillo para que sea la base, luego voy agregando más tonos. El siguiente tono es el naranja, y con el rojo voy haciendo las líneas que tienen las calabazas, finalmente voy poniendo café oscuro para ir oscureciendo y hacer las sombras para que pueda verse un poco más realista.

All the scarecrows are always dressed in old or shabby farmer's clothes, so for The Reaper, I added an old witch-like hat, painted a dark blue with purple tones. Then I added more details below the head, like corn stalks growing out of the neck.
Todos los espantapájaros siempre estan vestidos con ropas de granjeros que estan viejos o en mal estados, así que para El Segador he agregado un gorro viejo que parece el de una bruja, lo pinto con un color azul oscuro aderezado con tonos púrpuras. Así luego voy agregando más detalles debajo de la cabeza, como un ramas de plantas de maíz que van saliendo del cuello.

I continued painting the rest of his body, adding a torn and destroyed blue vest to his clothing to cover his skeletal body. His body is made of corn plants, so if he's attacked, he can rebuild damaged parts of his body using the cornfield. If he's outside of that area, his regeneration abilities are reduced to their maximum.
Seguí pintando el resto del cuerpo, el cual le he agregado a la vestimenta un chaleco azul todo roto y destruido para cubrir su cuerpo esquelético. su cuerpo esta hecho de plantas e maíz, por lo que si recibe ataques, el puede rehacer las partes dañadas de su cuerpo utilizando el campo de maíz, por lo que si está fuera de ese lugar sus habilidades se de regeneración se reducen al máximo.

Next, it was the scythe's turn, so I first painted the brown staff, along with the dried and withered corn plants caused by the Reaper's spirit. I also painted the blade, trying to give it that very dangerous edge, because it not only cuts but also shoots out rays of negative energy. Then I added the rest of the body, and up to this point, you can see how the character was coming together.
Después le tocó el turno a la guadaña, así que fuí pintando en primer lugar la vara de color marrón, al igual que las plantas de maíz secas y marchitas por el espíritu del Segador. Y también pinte la hoja tratando de darle ese ecfto de un filo muy peligroso, porque no solo corta sino que lanza rayos de energía negativa. Luego agregué el resto del cuerpo y hasta quí se puede observar como iba quedando el personaje.

For the setting, his source of power and energy, I begin to draw silhouettes of corn plants surrounding his feet, from where the fearsome Reaper emerges, and in the background more withered corn plants without bearing fruit due to the plague that accompanies this character and, as I mentioned before, the sunset. During the day, this being does not attack because it remains motionless, waiting for the moment when the sun sets, to come to life, so I paint that sunset mixing warm and cold colors and show that transition from day to night.
Para el escenario, su fuente de poder y energía, comienzo a dibujar siluetas de plantas de maíz que rodean sus pies, y de donde emerge el temible Segador, y al fondo más plantas de maíz marchitas sin dar fruto por la plaga que acompaña a este personaje y como mencioné antes la puesta de sol. Durante el día este ser no ataca porque permanece inmovil, esperando el instante en el que el sol se pone, para cobrar vida, así que pinto ese atardecer mezclando colores cálidos y fríos y mostrar esa transición del día a la noche.

To finish the drawing, I added only small details, specifically outlining the entire illustration of the Reaper with a fine-tipped black marker so his figure could be better seen against the background of the drawing. Another detail was adding sparks of energy coming out of his eyes, which I did with white paint, as well as highlighting parts of his clothing. Finally, I also added a little bit of color to the clouds to make them more realistic.
Finalizando el dibujo agregué solo pequeños detalles, especialmente delinear toda la ilsutración de El Segador con un marcador negro punta fina, así se puede apreciar mejor su figura frente al fondo del dibujo. Otro detalle fue agregar chispas de energía saliendo de sus ojos, esto lo hice con pintura blanca, así como también partes iluminadas en su ropa. Por último también en las nubes agregué un poco para hacerla más realistas.
What did you think of the result? It's quite a challenge to make a character. I realized I was missing one like this, and it turned out impressive. He matches his classmates, and his power level is very high; he'd be a very tough opponent. I really enjoyed contributing this idea; I had the time of my life making it. I hope you like it. Que les ha parecido el resultado? es todo un desafío hacer un personaje, me di cuenta que faltaba uno así como este, y ha quedado impresionante. Hace juego con los de su clase además de que a nivel de poder está muy elevado, sería un contrincante muy difícil. Me ha gustado mucho haber aportado esta idea, me divertí como nunca mientras lo hacía.
