Hello dear friends of Hive Diy, I hope you are all well. At some point in our lives, we have all witnessed something that captures our attention. Sometimes, the things we observe define us and determine certain areas of our lives. Remembering my first approaches to art, the memories of my childhood, always active at every moment, bring to mind the first paintings I could see in books. One of them was that of the Archangel Michael defeating Satan; the scene had a huge impact on me. Another painting was The Fallen Angel, by Alexandre Cabanel. In it, we can see an angel who refers to Lucifer after being expelled from paradise. This painting has many details, the most striking of which is the gaze of the fallen angel, a gaze full of anger, sadness, resentment, and revenge. All of these feelings are hidden behind his arm, but the tears of suffering begin to fall like a waterfall down his face. I made a small painting where I reproduce, in my own style, that gaze, which we as human beings have experienced at some point.
Hola queridos amigos de Hive Diy espero que todos se encuentren muy bien, alguna vez en nuestras vidas hemos sido testigos de un hecho que capta nuestra atención, a veces esas cosas que observamos nos definen y determinan ciertas áreas de nuestra vida. Recordando mis primeros acercamientos al arte, las memorias de mi infancia siempre activa en cada momento traen a mi mente las primeras pinturas que pude ver en los libros. Una de ellas fue la del Arcangel Miguel venciendo a Satán, me impactó muchísimo la escena, y otra pintura fue el Ángel Caído, de Alexandre Cabanel, en ella podemos ver a un ángel que hace referencia a Lucifer luego de haber sido expulsado del paraíso, pintura que posee muchos detalles donde el más resaltante es la mirada del ángel caído, mirada llena de ira, tristeza, rencor y venganza, todos esos sentimientos pretenden ocultarse detrás de su brazo, pero la lágrima del sufrimiento comienza a caer como una cascada por su rostro. Hice una pequeña pintura donde reproduzco bajo mi propio estilo esa mirada, que nosotros como seres humanos alguna vez la hemos experimentado.

I took one of my worthless bills, preferably in a cool color, since Cabanel's painting has a warm tone in the depiction of Lucifer's hair. I first applied a layer of white paint diluted in water. Once it had dried, I began drawing the details for the face. Since the painting on this bill is based solely on the gaze, I took on the task of rendering the eyes in great detail.
Tomé uno de mis billetes sin valor, preferiblemente de un color frío, ya que la pintura de Cabanel tiene una parte cálida en la representación del cabello de Lucifer. Hice en primer lugar una capa de pintura blanca diluida en agua, una vez que hubo secado, comencé a dibujar los detalles para el rostro, como la pintura en este billete solo se basa en la mirada pues me di a la tarea de hacer los ojos con mucho detalle.

The artist Cabanel used a neoclassical style with many Romantic overtones. Lucifer is painted as a Greek hero, muscular yet in a tragic pose. In the original painting, many details can be seen, such as Lucifer turning his back on the other angels flying through the sky. You can also see how his wings are darkening, a symbol of the corruption of God's favorite. So I paint the skin of his face and the arm that covers it with a mixture of brown, red, and white, and in some areas, blue.
El estilo que utilizó el artista Cabanel fue un estilo neoclásico con bastantes tintes del románticismo, Lucifer esta pintado como héroe griego, músculoso y a la vez en una pose trágica. en la pintura opriginal se pueden observar muchos detalles, como Lucifer le da la espalda a los demás ángeles que vuelan por el cielo, también se ve como sus alas van oscureciendo, símbolo de la corrupción del favorito de Dios. Así que voy pintando la piel del rostro y del brazo que lo cubre, con una mezcla de colores entre café, rojo y blanco, y en algunas zonas azul.

Then I begin to outline the eyes. Here, I alternate between dark brown mixed with red; it's not easy to imitate the feeling of that gaze. So, I did an act of introspection, searching my past for situations that had led me to experience bitter moments, and with this in mind, I was able to work better with the colors. Human beings make mistakes, atrocious acts, but we always have the opportunity to rectify and return to the path, and not remain static in suffering, anger, and discord.
Luego comienzo a delinear los ojos, aquí lo que hago es alternar entre el color café oscuro mezclado con rojo, no es fácil imitar el sentimiento de esa mirada. Así que hice un acto de introspección, buscando en el pasado situaciones que me llevaron a experimentar momentos amargos, y con etso en mente pude trabajar mejor los colores. Los seres humanos cometemos errores, actos atroces, pero siempre tenemos la oportunidad de rectificar y volver al camino, y no quedarnos estáticos en el sufrimiento, la ira y la discordia.

I played a lot with colors. On the edges of the face, when it begins to darken with shadow, what was once reddish and warm on the skin becomes a cool turquoise. I like that contrast of colors; I think it speaks volumes to the feelings of the fallen angel. Pride and arrogance sometimes cloud vision, and when there is no rectification, all that remains is a long chain of mistakes. Satan is the example of someone who expected much, but couldn't bear the weight of his own mistakes and succumbed to evil.
Jugué mucho con los colores, en los bordes del rostro, cuando comienza a oscurecerse por la sombra, lo que antes era rojizo y cálido en la piel se convierte en un frío turquesa, me gusta ese contraste de colores, creo que habla mucho de los sentimientos del ángel caído. El orgullo y la soberbia a veces nublan la visión, y cuando no hay rectificación solo queda una larga cadena de errores. Satán es el ejemplo de quien se esperaba mucho, pero no pudo con el peso de sus propios errores y sucumbió al mal.

Despite being a small painting, I always try to leave a strong brushstroke. I begin by drawing her reddish hair, alternating between shadows and highlights. For the highlights, I lighten the tone with a bit of yellow. Then I focus again on the face to capture the painting's centerpiece: the teardrop.
A pesar de ser una pintura pequeña siempre trato de dejar muy marcado el pincel. Comienzo a dibujar su rojizo cabello alternado entre sombras y reflejos, para los reflejos lo que hago es alcarar el tono con un poco de amarillo. Luego me concentro de nuevo en el rostro para poder hacer la protagonista del cuaro: la lágrima.
FINAL WORK
This painting was probably inspired by the book of the prophet Isaiah, chapter 14:12. Beyond beliefs, all have a symbolic language, and that's what I like: studying symbols and their relationship with culture and people. The fallen angel is a symbol of disappointment, pain, anger, and suffering, of how the path of pride and arrogance ends in the wrong place and with dark consequences. Probablemente este cuadro fue inspirado en el librop del profeta Isaías capítulo 14:12, más allá de las creencias, todas tienen un lenguaje simbólico y es lo que me gusta, estudiar los símbolos y su relación con la cultura y las personas. El Ángel caído es símbolo de decepción, dolor, ira y sufrimiento, de que el camino del orgullo y la soberbia terminan en el destino equivocado y con consecuencias oscuras, el arte es maravilloso cuando nos hace reflexionar.
