I congratulate you for your great, beautiful, and wonderful works. On this occasion, I would like to share with you my latest work. I made a figure of a fox carved in two types of wood: pine and mahogany. I chose this figure after reading The Little Prince with my daughter, and she really liked the figure of the fox. According to some authors, and something I understood, the figure of the fox in The Little Prince embodies genuine friendship by explaining domestication as the creation of bonds that require time and dedication. It also reveals that what is essential is invisible to the eye, highlighting the value of emotional connections over appearances. It also introduces the responsibility that arises from creating bonds and the importance of rituals to nurture them. Finally, through its farewell, it teaches about the value of time invested in meaningful relationships. With this in mind, I am briefly sharing the step-by-step instructions. I hope you like it.
Hola queridos amigos, espero que todos se encuentren muy bien, quiero felicitar a los amigos usuarios que fueron nombrados en la última publicación de nuestra comunidad de Jewelry, los felicito por sus grandes obras tan lindas y maravillosas. Yo en esta oportunidad quiero compartir con ustedes mi último trabajo, he realizado la figura de un zorro tallado en dos tipos de madera, pino y caoba. He elegido esta figura luego de leer el Principito con mi hija, y le gustó mucha la figura del zorro, según algunos autores y algo que pude entender, la figura de el zorro en El Principito encarna la amistad genuina al explicar la domesticación como la creación de lazos que requieren tiempo y dedicación además revela que lo esencial es invisible a los ojos resaltando el valor de las conexiones emocionales sobre la apariencia también introduce la responsabilidad que surge al crear vínculos y la importancia de los rituales para nutrirlos finalmente a través de su despedida enseña sobre el valor del tiempo invertido en las relaciones significativas. con esto en mente comparto brevemente el paso a paso, espero les guste.

The figure is divided into two parts, but arguably the main part is the pine wood, since the fox figure is mostly drawn on the pine wood. So, using a piece of wood 5 centimeters high by 3 centimeters wide, I draw the fox's silhouette with a pencil and then gradually carve the wood.
La figura esta dividida en dos partes pero podría decirse que la principal es la madera de pino, ya que en mayor parte la figura del zorro esta dibujado sobre la madera de pino. Así que con un pedazo de madera de 5 centímetros de alto por 3 centímetros de ancho realizo un dibujo con un lápiz de la silueta del zorro para después poco a poco ir tallando la madera.

Initially, I start at the edges of the figure and then work my way toward the inside or center. Here, I begin by removing the wood with a box cutter to cover as much space as possible. Once I'm getting closer to the pencil outline, I switch tools and use one of the curved-tip blades to shape this part of the face.
Inicialmente comienzo por los bordes de la figura y luego hacia el inetrior o el centro d ela misma. Aquí comienzo retirando la madera con un cúter para abarcar mayor espacio posible, y una vez me voy acercando al trazo con lápiz cambié de herramienta y utilizo una de las cuchillas con la punta curvada para darle forma a esta parte del rostro.

On the other side, basically the same procedure, sometimes the wood tends to be harder on one side and then what I do is change the blade for a sharper one but with the same style at the tip to be able to cut and carve the wood.
Del otro lado básicamente el mismo procedimiento, a veces la madera suele estar mas dura d eun lado y ahi lo que hago es cambiar de cuchilla por una más afilada pero que tenga el mismo estilo en la punta para poder cortar y tallar la madera.

Next, I follow the outline of the drawing along the edges until I reach the fox's ears, which I gradually shape. Another characteristic of foxes is that they are very cunning animals, as they can pretend to be friendly to deceive their prey. Another thing is that they are very free beings, as they almost always hunt alone. They are not gregarious animals like other animals, which makes them an enigmatic and very mysterious animal.
Seguidamente sigo el trazo del dibujo por los bordes hasta continuar con las orejas del zorro a las cuales poco a poco voy dando forma. Otra caractrística de los zorros es que son animales muy astutos, ya que pueden simular ser amigables para engañar a sus presar, otra cosa es que son seres muy libres ya que casi siempre cazan solos, no son animales gregarios como otros, lo que los hace un animael enigmático y muy misterioso.

After making the piece, I shape the inside. I don't like to make pieces that look flat, but rather want to add fine, small details, like in this case, carving the face. I also make the second part with another wood, in this case mahogany, which would be the part with the orange patch of fur that foxes always have. I cut this and glue it onto the front. Then I start sanding and give it a more stylized shape.
Despues e haber hecho la pieza lo que hago es darle forma en el inetrior, no me gusta hacer piezas que se vean planas sino en lo máximo poder hacerles detalles finos y pequeños como en este caso tallar el rostro. También hago la segunda parte con otra madera, en este caso caoba, que sería la parte de la mancha naranja del pelaje que siempre tienen los zorros, esta la corto y la coloco en la parte frontal con pegamento. Despues comienzo a lijar y le doy una forma más estilizada.

Finally, I added the eyes, carving two ovals on each side and then adding a chain for the necklace. Afterward, I gave it a coat of gloss varnish and that's how it was finished.
Por último agregué los ojos, tallando dos óvalos en cada lado y luego añadiendo una cadena para el collar. Después le di un baño de barníz brillante y así quedó finalizado.
FINAL WORK
What did you think of the result? The English poet William Blake wrote a poem called "Proverbs of Hell," and one of the proverbs says, "If the lion had advice from the fox, he would be wise." This tells us that pride and arrogance never teach us anything new, and we miss out on learning new things. I learned many things from this carved symbol, and I hope I've passed them on to you. For now, I'll say goodbye until next time.
Qué les ha parecido el resultado? el poeta inglés William Blake escribió un poema que se llamaba Proverbios del Infierno y en uno de los proverbios decía: "Si el León recibiera consejos del zorro sería sabio". Eso nos habla de que la soberbia y el orgullo no nos dejan nunca nada nuevo y nos perdemos de aprender cosas nuevas. Con este símbolo tallado aprendí muchas cosas y espro habérselas transmitido a ustedes, por ahora me despido y será hasta una próxima oportunidad.
