Greetings of the day,
This week at our hospital we celebrated Infection Control Week 2025 with full enthusiasm. The theme for this year was “Stand UPPP for Infection Prevention – Unite, Protect, Prevent, Prevail.”
To make the awareness more interactive, we organised a special activity — a Snakes and Ladders Game based on infection control topics.

Instead of a normal lecture or presentation, this game was designed in a creative way where every box on the board represented a point related to infection prevention. When someone landed on a “ladder,” it showed a good infection control practice like hand hygiene, catheter care bundle, or waste segregation. But when they landed on a “snake,” it indicated unsafe behaviour like improper glove use, needle recapping, or linen mismanagement.

The staff from nursing and housekeeping departments took part very actively. Everyone was laugh, playing, and at the same time learning important points about infection control. It was nice to see how a simple childhood game can become a tool for professional awareness when used creatively.

During the session our infection control team explained small but important things like why hand hygiene before and after every patient contact matters or how one small break in protocol can increase risk for both patient and staff. The message was simple but strong — Prevention starts from us.

I really liked how everyone participated with full energy. Some were even cheering for their team members while others were carefully thinking before rolling the dice. The room was filled with positivity and teamwork spirit.

After the game we had a small discussion where many shared what they learned and how they can apply it in their daily work. Most said this kind of fun learning should happen more often because it helps to remember things easily.

It was not just a competition-it was a reminder that infection prevention is a daily practice. By making it fun we reminded everyone that safety can be enjoyable too.

Overall the day ended on a happy and motivated note. I personally felt proud to be part of such an innovative activity that combined education and enjoyment together.
