The are many countries that produce come around the world; from Brazil and other Latino countries to Africa-East Africa and the native of coffee Ethiopia. If you have never known coffee came from the Ethiopian Highlands, and many ancient stories can attest to this where it was mentioned as used by the monarchies, and as a means of trade/exchange-barter trader. Being from Ethiopia, where it grows as wild scrubs, it has entrenched its value in most neighboring countries such as Kenya, Uganda, and entire East Africa. In Kenya, the production is a fraction of what is produced in countries such as Brazil, but coffee from Kenya surpasses all others in quality and so it is used to blend others thus termed as the 'Black Gold'. Coffee is grown as a cash crop that helps many families to put a plate on the table, and foot other bills such as education, health, and others.

DSC_0013.JPG You can see the small berries to be mature by April. The most common varieties grown in Kenya are SL28, SL34, K7, Ruiru 11, Batian Robusta, Arabica. The coffee is processed and auctioned as beans for export. The end products of coffee include instant coffee, alcoholic liqueurs such Kenya Coffee Liqueurs, blending coffee flavors for different uses. However, there are numerous vices that reduce the benefits hence affecting the quantity of production such as fraud, poor investment in processing, inside price manipulation, high costs of production inputs, and generally the competition from other crops and products.
