Appics is back with a big announcement: they are doing a dual-blockchain solution with Steem-Engine and EOS to power their mobile app for photos and videos. The XAP token is being issued from next week onwards for sharing your content via Appics.
What is Appics?
I have been one of the loudest advertisers for @appics ever since day one of their very first announcement back in summer 2017. The idea is so simple, yet so powerful combined with Steem. It has been a long wait for the app but about half a year ago we where stunned by how beautiful a Steem app can look like. The team has been constantly traveling from conference to conference and created a vast network of business contacts and fans all around the world. People are eager to get started.

Steem and EOS
How ironic that the news about a bridge between Steem and EOS via the Appics application comes at the same time, when Dan Larimer from EOS announced the Voice platform, a so-called Steemit killer. Appics is taking the best of both worlds, an approach that makes much more sense and proves how blockchain technology can and will grow closer together in the future. It is not about how one coin competes against the other but rather how they can mutually benefit each other. Appics is leading the way!
There will be a gateway solution, where transactions between the Steem and EOS ecosystem are easy and fast. Normally, there is no communication between the two blockchains. This sounds amazing and so straight forward, you gotta ask yourself why nobody came up with that before.
To accomplish the upvoting and token part that should have been done originally with the Smart Media Token protocol from Steemit, but that was delayed so much that Steem-Engine was created by @aggroed and @yabapmatt, the @steemmonsters founders and top Steem witnesses. Appics XAP token will be issued via Steem-Engine and run through all Steem wallets. You can transfer them with Steempeak or the Steem Keychain browser extension - from the same guys who created Steem-Engine.
Why Appics?
I do believe that Appics might be the first killer app on the Steem blockchain. It is basically Instagram but with money for the content creators. People already love the app, although it is just running with Steem so far. With the XAP token we will have an entirely new voting pool with its own ecosystem and a brand new distribution. There will be influencers and categories with upvoters from the Appics team, to send out generous upvotes to the communities.
As we have seen in the past with Steem itself, it pays out massively to be an early content creator in a Steem-like environment, to share the voting pool with less people and hence absorb much more of the inflation than months or years down the road. There will be a lot of XAP for grabs. I have already a small stake acquired in the ICO, which allows me to start with some decent upvotes on dolphin level for you guys right from the beginning. Conclusion
I am excited! This has been a very long wait and it seems that next week we can finally start to earn some juicy tokens. The ICO is long over, this is already the real deal. We had the soft launch half a year ago and the app works well. It is basically pulling the switch and start the Appics ecosystem with the new Steem-Engine tokens. I love the Steem Monsters guys, I think they have saved the Steem blockchain with all their innovations. And Appics might bring the masses.
