3DP, Duo, Harvests, Cooler, Mucho Potato, Engine Rebuild In The Heat - Tuesday

I woke to the 3 knee mounts being done in the printer yesterday morning and they came out good for being in PETG. They mount the Gopro or such camera on the knee so it looks up at the paraglider overhead. I made these to give to my instructor next month when I go to my next SIV.

I managed to hit 1000 day streak on Duolingo. Switched back over to Spanish recently as I'll likely use that before any other.

Out picking I found one that had hidden in the grass and managed to get monstrous. Damn things blend in pretty easily and can be easy to miss.

I went and hauled the squash to the cooler which I found was not working.... I beat the shit out of the a/c unit which caused it to come back on finally. It was a fight over the day and it was not until the late afternoon when I got it to finally stay working. I think it was just clogged with dust.

The cucumbers had a nice number ready and I really need to trim and tie them this morning.

By 9am I was out digging the first batch of spuds which gave up some massive and really nice looking ones.

41.5 pounds washed and drying.

Then back out for the next batch and it only took about 8 spots to overfill the baskets with 46.5 pounds.

I had to sort and bag the first batch then washed and laid out to dry the second. I bagged them a bit later.

I got the numbers emailed off for the landscaping work then after a bite to eat was out working on the truck engine. First thing was to get the pistons installed. I had to swap out the number 1 as I had the wrong set put in. The crank spun nicely with everything connected again.

I started to work on the head again but realized that I needed supplies so I headed off to North 40. Jug of kerosene and spray bottles, oil pan, and carb and choke cleaners.

IMG_20250812_152335.jpg

Back home I started with the kerosene in the spray bottle and with the bottom pan set on one drip pan I drenched it good.

I eventually went to the carb and choke cleaner which did a bang up job of stripping the shit off.

The kerosene was key to have available as a parts wash as I put the head back together. Having sat out there was dust and dirt on the springs which washed off nicely. I then had to get the set of valves reinstalled and the toughest part is getting these tiny little captive shims to sit right.

I was to the point where the bottom pan needed to go on so I got the gasket sealant mooshed out and installed the pan.

Once I had the pan on I moved in the hoist and lifted the engine then swapped the engine stand mount to the other side.

Both heads were good to go after I got the caps all put back on the springs. The egg cartons worked like a charm to keep them all organized over the time it was apart.

This was where I spun it to remount.

IMG_20250812_171505.jpg

One head had been in the truck and needed to be cleaned up a bit while the other was good and just went right on.

HOLY SHIT it's actually going together! I was so hot, tired, thirsty, hungry, and dirty. I managed to cram food in me then got a well deserved shower before bed.

Today will be a repeat of yesterday. Out to harvest first thing, trim and tie the cucumbers, dig potatoes, find the model to print for the lcd screen, then keep working on the truck engine. I just might be able to drop the thing back in today.... maybe, possibly, if I'm lucky/good....
