I ended up camping on the grass of the closed rest area and woke to this yesterday morning. It's weird being on the west side of the time zone as this was just shy of 7am...
The clouds had moved in overnight and I had the entire area to myself.
Having time I made my coffee on one of the tables then grabbed my rod and headed for the river.
The Clark Fork. A classic fly fishing river that I have dreamed of casting into for much of my life. I found out how wrong my rod setup is for large water... I need a much bigger rod with way stronger action than this ultra light creek rod.
Can't argue with this view!
I managed to find a storage facility in Missoula and rented a spot outside that was suitable to be towed into. Then I worked with AAA to get the tow truck setup.
The small lake made for a hell of a view of the hills to the south.
One of the monster ravens that wandered around by me pecking at anything food looking.
There are SOOOO many worse places I could have broken down. In the end this was the BEST place I have ever been broken down at.
History of the region's waters.
It was about 11:45 when David came hauling ass into the rest area from the exit side as the gate was closed on the entrance. He hooked up the truck and got it loaded on the flatbed.
It was then about an hour to get to the storage facility that just so happens to be 1/2 mile from the Tow company's main shop! PERFECT! On the ride David and I got along great and he TOTALLY Hooked me up. I told him about how we only had the 100 mile tow range with AAA and he gave me the low down. With the premium you get 200 mile range towing!!! For not much more a year! So @stryeyz got that for us. David was SUPER cool and super nice, but won't take no shit from anyone! I have a SUPER good review to write for him and his impeccable service.
SO I happened to choose the storage facility that is 199 miles from our house!
@stryeyz and the boys met us at the facility and then we proceeded to unload the truck into the car to haul my shit home. We got most things but I had to leave my crash pads and bike locked inside. Just not enough room to bring with.
So I needed beer and we wanted food before heading for home so we went to downtown Missoula and to Tamarack brewing where I had the bison burger.
After eating we drove over to the towing company and went in to ask about the tow of my truck to the farm. They have a couple of drivers that don't mind driving to Spokane area and we will just work with AAA and require Iron Horse Towing do the job for us.
Just after I stopped to fill up at the T/A and this was an interesting sight to see. A border patrol intake shack it looked like to me... It got on the freeway headed west.
It was hard coming back into Spokane and the sheer mass of people, it put me on edge and also being close to home and just wanting the day to be over. We got to the farm and piled everything out of the car and I had it all put away within an hour or so. Eventually I opened up the package with my new kilt.
Not having a shower in many days I was disgusting so managed to get cleaned up good before bed, but then slept like normal shit.
Woke at 3:30am this morning to the patter of rain and it's been off and on since. I have no idea why every fucking morning I open my eyes to see that god damned time!? WTF is happening at 3:30am every day?
I have no clue what I'm doing today. I'm not even supposed to be here right now!!!!
