Largely a repeat day yesterday. Got to the garden early and found a few squash then the greenhouse had more than just the cucumbers ready finally. Some peppers and tomatoes went in the house as well. I didn't take the time to trim and tie the cucumbers, which I should have...
I got a 7" touch screen for a project and after searching all over I finally found a model that looked like it could work. The front panel is perfect fit.
A little after 9am I was out digging potatoes. I made it through the row but then had to pull from the next row to fill the baskets which only amounted to 32 pounds.
Right back out digging more I got the baskets overfilled, this time with 42 pounds which went to the deck but waited to get washed.
The back of the screen housing finished printing but there were a number of spots that had to be cut out to allow the screen to fit properly. I set it aside till later in the day.
I bagged the potatoes then washed the next ones and laid them out to dry.
At noon I was back out on the truck engine and soon had the cams installed, then the timing chains.
I had to pull the chains off as I forgot to put the tensioners in but they got installed and everything went together with little problems.
Main timing chain installed it was time to put the cover on, which was a bit of a pain to get it slotted over the end of the crank.
Fat bead of gasket goo all around and on it went.
Then it was just a matter of putting all the parts back on the engine that I could before attempting to put it back in. Oil filter, water pump, valve covers, etc.
I got it to the point I needed it off the engine stand so I could install the rear seal. I moved the table out of the way and hooked it up, lifted it and had to really work to get it moved in.
I got the splines matched up right and had the trans lifted with the jack from below.
It was not very easy to move the hoist and engine with it so far off the ground. I had to kick the end of the lift then kick on the front legs to get it to move in the gravel. I eventually got it into the engine bay and had to work back and forth from side to side making sure nothing got caught or snagged while lowering it.
It took a good bit of effort and finagling to get the to mounts to sit on the bolts on either side but it is in the truck once more. I have to work on getting the bolt holes of the bell housing to match the engine as it is just off. At this point I was toasted and spent the next hour or so cleaning up my massive mess in front of the truck.
It took some clipping, snipping, and cutting of the plastic but the screen fits perfectly.
Better access to the ports on the side.
Hoping those 4 holes will fit the Pi type board I will be adding on to run the screen.
Pretty damn clear little screen.
Today I hope to start the truck if I can get everything reconnected... It will be a lot of contortioning to get a number of the bolts and nuts back in. The garden will get worked on first, bagged spuds need to go to storage, I may cobble the project together if I get the board earlier, and more potatoes will be excavated.
