Up in time yesterday morning to watch RVB get whooped by Price in the PDC. Barney is seeming past his prime by a long shot but is still slightly competitive. The surprise was Springer won the event which was as total upset.
Clouds were all around as the sun came up and there was some solid rain lines in the region.
The boys and I headed out a bit after 9am and got started on the drainage lines right away upon arriving. We had 2 lines that had to be replaced that ran down the hillside. They first had to be dug up and exposed so the boys worked on the one while I the other.
The line I worked on first ran underneath a big boulder and had me a bit worried it might trundle if I undermined it too much.
I got the line exposed and could see the IDIOCY. What a shitty job was done! Asshats put a drain cap on the end and buried the line... I lifted the line and about 12 feet of the bottom was filled with dirt and roots.
Golf course rats flew over in a honking brigade.
I grabbed my huge pry bar and pounded it into the hill to give me a tiny bit of support to the boulder.
Then I had to get the line exposed enough and then I squeezed the coupler on.
I laid the tube down the hill and at the bottom end I filled the tube with a bunch of small rocks then tied the sock over the end.
This time the line is daylighted so that about 2-3 feet is exposed under the rocks. The rocks inside the tube will cause the water rushing down to suddenly slow and hopefully disperse smoothly without allowing washing out in any fashion.
As I stood and looked at the other end I had a flood of memories come back and the solution was simple. I slit the perf pipe down the side then slid it over the coupler.
This causes the upper pipe to flow directly into the new lower pipe. I ziptied it tight then slid the sock up and tied it.
I then back filled the trench and then hammered in a bunch of rocks beneath the boulde3r to help keep it in place.
The boys had been working on the other line and nearly had it exposed. I found the bottom end and we soon had the old line out and up the hill.
There was rain inbound and it had skirted all around us while we had been working. R was not feeling too hot and they had done a good amount of digging so I set them free to go hunt for gold balls.
I got the trench dug and then the line laid out. I did the same and filled the bottom with rocks then day lit the bottom beneath rocks.
The top end got coupled and buried.
It was 11:30 and I had finished raking out the hill and we packed up and got headed for home as the rain began to really fall. Timing was perfect!
Made a stop at Napa for transmission line but they were out.
Once home though my new sleeping bag was waiting for me. HOLY SHIT THIS THING IS CUSH!
It's a zero degree bag and is like sliding into a silky smooth cloud. Super warm and with my bivy bag will get me down to the -15F range and with the blanket inside will go down to -20F or lower.
The Saints got destroyed. It was a blowout from the word go.
The boys haul of balls.
On our way to town we stopped to try and get my transmission hoses but even O' Reilly didn't have it... I have to go on the hunt for it today.
Parked in same spot as Friday.
Then went for a wander in Auntie's bookstore until we were both hungry and ready for food.
Back to the Onion for food and beer.
The storms had moved to the north and were pounding the mountains.
THE LEGEND DAVE ATTELL's back. His last set ran a bit late since Doug went on with him. Dave came back like he said he would.
We got seated opposite side of the stage from Friday where we were at table J4 and last night C4.
I have not laughed as much as I did this weekend in years. The best was Doug was his own MC. Andy was seriously funny and made cancer funny. This was truly an awesome weekend getting to see first Dave then Doug, and Dave again. SO BADASS!!!
Today I have to find the hose for the truck and then get it swapped out. Lots of stuff still to gather and get ready, garden to work on, put away the tools from yesterday,
