Got out to the garden yesterday morning and as I went to pick the few squash I found one of the leaves had a nice big puddle of rain water still.
Normally the leaves don't grow as a bowl like this, generally they are more serrated so as not to have that large cup.
Just the meager few that still went to the cooler.
The greenhouse is still plodding along and the tomatoes and peppers are slowly ripening.
Mid morning I headed up to Deer Park to Autozone. This was the hose that I needed.
And THANKFULLY they had 13 feet of it. 9.5mm is close enough to 9mm ID.
Every time I've needed parts recently THEY have had them, and most often cheaper than the other stores. Plus I really like to support the small town shops over the ones in Spokane as we need them to stay in business up here.
It was NOT easy to get the damn lines off the transmission but I managed. THAT is the hole in the line.
So I grabbed my tubing cutter and hacked the end of each tube off. I then took a round punch and hammered it into the cut end to give it a small flare to better hold the tube. The tubing went on each stub but with much effort... Which I feel is a good sign that the hoses won't be coming off easily.
I got both lines screwed into the transmission then threaded the hose through to the front.
Where I connected them into the metal lines. This fix removes the metal lines and a short section of hose to have it all just one length of hose for each input and output. I took the truck for a very short test drive just to make sure the pressure would not pop a hose.
What I DID NOT get shots of was the fucking abortion of an attempt at getting the fucking ATF in the damned transmission. I ended up finding a piece of tubing which allowed me to get about 2 quarts into the thing with much of it down my arms and on the ground. SO I ordered an ATF pump that will be here today and I will do a proper flush.
In order to work on the rack for the truck bed I had forgotten I needed the taps for M10... So off to North 40 I went where I also got the ATF for the flush and a new cooler as our old one is not great.
With the proper tap I was able to finish the verticals. Well, I almost did it right. Seems I didn't tap deep enough and had to tap deeper as I put the parts together.
Popped the holes in the sides for the bolts. Ended up having to lengthen the hole a bit but the side of the drill bit worked well for that.
It was a lot of fiddling to get the parts all in the right direction.
The way it will be looking later today.
The back span is bolted in place and it is quite strong. Today I will mount the front span but will need to grab some bolts at North 40 on the way home from PT this morning. I plant to drill holes and mount the plates to the rails which will make the setup easily removable.
I was working on packing my wings and remembered I needed to swap the handle on my reserve. It was good I did as I had my reserve in the container 90 degrees off.
Out to soak for a while before heading for bed.
Today is busy with my PT this morning, R has an appointment at 9, I have to get bolts, finish the rack install, gather gear for trip, work around the farm, J has a cross country meet this afternoon that @stryeyz will go to, and I will do the ATF flush once the pump arrives.
