Yesterday morning I awoke to a few sprinkles which ended up actually turning to rain a bit later. It kept the temps nice and cool all day long as the cloud cover hung around.

It rained for only about an hour and then I headed out to rummage through the squash rows.

Then plucked the cucumbers that were ready.

I looked at all the various auto parts stores in the area and found that O'Reilly had the manifold bolts I need for the truck. The moronic part is that they only come in sets of 5 and my manifold has 6 bolts per side... One is still okay on each side so I can make these work. The hard part will be removing the old ones...

I headed into town for my 10am. They were still working on building the rock terrace above and it was rather loud with the crane engine revved up.

I talked with Maury and his wife about their water feature and then scheduled for Monday morning to go back and do the work. I will be pulling the rock out of the feature and off the sides and cutting out the layer of felt that is ABOVE the pond liner and has been trapping all the algae for years. Be a lot of rock moving and I will likely have the boys with to help me.

Then up the 395 to Deer Park and to buy the bolts. At first they thought they only had one set but found both in the back.

Before working on the truck I HAD to finish digging the last of the red potatoes. 37.5 pounds with a lot being rather small spuds.

Washed and drying on the deck there were some that had bad spots that got tossed aside. So far I have dug 1000 pounds and still have rows of yellow to dig.

In order to keep troubleshooting my truck I needed a battery for it so off to North 40 I went with an ancient small battery for the core turn in and this time of year we get a $10 gift card with the core. So the battery went in and I hauled out my computer and the OBD tester then checked to find... NOTHING! NO CODES! I tried to start it but all it will do now is turn over but never try firing.

EPL has started again so I had that on but only caught glimpses of it as I was in and out of the house.

The refusal to start made me go digging. I pulled the spark plug from cylinder 3 and it didn't look the greatest. There was a coating on it and the gap looked huge. So I grabbed the gap tool and went to each plug and cleaned and set the gaps properly. Plugged everything back in and..... NADA still.

The potatoes had dried enough by the mid afternoon so I piled them all in the garden cart and hauled them down.

825 pounds are in storage now. 450 in 50 lb bags, 255 in 15s and 120 in 10s. I have a number of 5 pound bags in the house.

I set the charger on the battery since I was trying starting so much. I then dug into the FSM to find all the various troubleshooting paths and diagrams of the different relays.

IMG_20250815_173028.jpg

I got the trailer hooked up for the grain run I have done this morning already.

IMG_20250815_181153.jpg

The grain will be getting spread where the red potatoes had been as that's where the garlic will be going in October.

IMG_20250815_181308.jpg

I got a few of the irrigation lines pinched off at the main then rolled. The plastic has to get laid back out then folded up under the grapes or just straight removed for now... not sure exactly.

IMG_20250815_182004.jpg

By the time I'm done I will have most of the FSM printed out.

IMG_20250815_192230.jpg

The engine is in.... It's just not running yet. I'm REALLY REALLY hoping that I'm not getting oil into the cylinders... I put the rings on how the instructions said, put the valve guide seals in properly, I just can't figure this out... I'll keep at it today.

IMG_20250815_192640.jpg

A lot more rain today, I got wet while getting the grain a couple hours ago and will get wet again when I go out to spread it. Then I have to keep trying to figure out my truck and hopefully get it to start and stay running.
