It was a fantastic weekend celebrating "La Castanyada" with the whole family, and the kids had a blast. They didn't drive me crazy; in fact, they even helped, which shouldn't be a surprise since kids grow up so fast. It was just the right temperature, but also very sunny, so the bonfires at night provided wonderful warmth.
And now we're in the first week of November, which, as I've seen in my email, marks the start of the end-of-year consumer frenzy.

Although Black Friday is still almost a month away, I can already see the ads everywhere. I could say I manage to ignore it all, but that's not true. I already have my wish list of things I want to buy if they're really discounted. Then comes Cyber Monday; I have to admit I've never really participated in it.
And the grand finale will be Christmas. A time that isn't one of my favorites for many reasons, but it's undoubtedly the queen of shopping. For years I've made a budget to avoid getting into January with more than a few unpleasant surprises. Besides, I have to set aside something for the Three Wise Men, or the kids won't help me again.
