Hello friend, today I share with you a recent visit to Juan Griego in the Marcano Municipality of Nueva Esparta State, one of those tours that fill your soul. We went to several places, enjoying the breeze and the charm of this coastal city. As the afternoon was falling and the sun was starting to go down, we decided to make a special stop at the Fortín de La Galera.

I was accompanied by my children, who were amazed by everything they saw. From the top of the fort, the view of the bay of Juan Griego is simply breathtaking. They ran from one side to the other, with curiosity running high, checking every corner, while I stopped to contemplate the history of this place.

The Fort of La Galera was built in 1811 with the purpose of protecting the bay from possible attacks. It is also known as El Fortín de la Libertad, since it was the scene of the heroic Battle of Juan Griego in 1817. Today, more than two centuries later, it continues to be a symbol of resistance and freedom.

In the center of the fort there is a detail that we loved, a kind of decorative lake with the silhouette of the map of Margarita Island. It is a beautiful touch that connects the history with the insular identity. My children came up curious, asking if it really was the shape of the island and it was a perfect opportunity to tell them a little about our land.

Little by little, the place began to fill up. Families, couples, tourists, all with the same purpose, to watch the sunset from one of the most privileged spots on the island. And just as the sun began to touch the horizon, the sky was painted in shades of orange, pink and gold. It was a natural spectacle that left us speechless.

Being there, surrounded by history, nature and good company, was an experience that connected us deeply with our roots. Family weekends have that charm full of magic, joy and moments that become memories forever. And this was one of them. Enjoying the sunset at Fortín de La Galera, while the sky was transformed into a work of art, was the perfect ending for an unforgettable Saturday.

Of all the corners of my beautiful island, this is one of my favorite places. Undoubtedly, a place that invites you to return again and again, especially when the weekend gives us time to reconnect with what we love. There is something magical about these days, the breeze seems softer, the colors more vivid and the soul is filled with joy.
Friends, I hope you like my post and that you continue to enjoy a weekend full of light, peace and unforgettable moments.
Greetings and blessings.
