Es una fecha profundamente especial, llena de devoción, alegría y unión entre los margariteños y visitantes que llegan para rendir homenaje a nuestra querida "Vallita".
One of the most awaited moments of this celebration is the arrival of the Simón Bolívar School Ship, the majestic sailing ship of the Navy that every year visits the island to honor the Virgin. This ship, known as the Ambassador Without Borders, not only represents Venezuela in the world, but also fulfills an educational function, it is a floating school where the country's future naval officers are trained.
Uno de los momentos más esperados de esta celebración es la llegada del Buque Escuela Simón Bolívar, el majestuoso velero de la Armada que cada año visita la isla para rendir honores a la Virgen. Este barco, conocido como el Embajador Sin Fronteras, no solo representa a Venezuela en el mundo, sino que también cumple una función educativa, es una escuela flotante donde se forman los futuros oficiales navales del país.
The ship usually arrives a few days before September 8 and remains at the Morro pier until a few days after the holiday. During its stay, it participates in various religious and cultural activities and opens its doors to the public so that we can all get to know its facilities, talk to the cadets and marvel at its imposing structure. It is an enriching experience for both adults and children.
El buque suele llegar unos días antes del 8 de septiembre y permanece en el muelle del Morro hasta unos días después de la festividad. Durante su estadía, participa en diversas actividades religiosas y culturales y abre sus puertas al público para que todos podamos conocer sus instalaciones, conversar con los cadetes y maravillarnos con su imponente estructura. Es una experiencia enriquecedora, tanto para los adultos como para los niños.
Every year I try to visit the ship with my children. We love touring it, learning about its history and feeling the pride of having it on our land. Although we have seen it before, each visit is unique. This year, however, it was difficult for me to go up. We live far from the pier and, unfortunately, the three times I tried to go I was unable to get in. One time there were special activities, another time the ship was not docked, and the last time, although it was, there were so many people that the line was endless. I had to leave to look for my son, and I was left wanting.
Todos los años procuro visitar el buque con mis hijos. Nos encanta recorrerlo, aprender sobre su historia y sentir el orgullo de tenerlo en nuestra tierra. Aunque ya lo hemos visto en otras oportunidades, cada visita es única. Este año, sin embargo, se me hizo difícil poder subir. Vivimos lejos del muelle y, lamentablemente, las tres veces que intenté ir no logré entrar. Una vez había actividades especiales, otra el buque no estaba atracado, y la última vez, aunque sí estaba, había tanta gente que la cola era interminable. Tuve que retirarme para buscar a mi hijo, y me quedé con las ganas.
Although I was not able to go up this year, I was there. I took pictures, enjoyed the sunset in front of the sea, and I could see the patrol boat, the ship that accompanies and supports the navigation of the School Ship. I love meditating in that space, feeling the sea breeze and being grateful for the opportunity to experience this beautiful tradition. That the ship comes every year is something that fills my heart. It is a symbol of respect, faith and commitment to our roots.
A pesar de no haber podido subir este año, estuve presente. Tomé fotos, disfruté del atardecer frente al mar y pude ver al patrullero, el barco que acompaña y apoya la navegación del Buque Escuela. Me encanta meditar en ese espacio, sentir la brisa marina y agradecer por la oportunidad de vivir esta tradición tan hermosa. Que el buque venga todos los años es algo que me llena el corazón. Es un símbolo de respeto, fe y compromiso con nuestras raíces.
