Happy Monday everyone and welcome to the my weekly HSBI giveaway for the Splinterlands community!
After a lot of Splinterlands news and updates recently, the last week was a bit quieter, which is quite understandable. It should at least be noted that the Concflicts of Conclave Arcana have started and the first points are already being collected. There are still two smaller things to report that I found very interesting. Firstly, I saw Splinterlands cards on social media that are supposed to boost land production. I haven't seen any official news about this and think that there may have been a Town Hall event where these were briefly introduced. But probably the stats and everything else are not final. And the second thing I found interesting is that a new format was announced for the end of July on Discord, which is supposed to be 100% free to play. They are still looking for a name for it, but I haven't found out yet how the format will work.
Your Answers to the last Question:
Last week's question was "What do you think of the new Battle Lobby design?". This time 11 people took part and answered the question. Let's have a look at some of your answers.
@beelzael:
I don't like it. I loved being able to see my last battles and having the battle-button right above it. Now, in order to check a former battle, compare and draw conclusions I have to click around. It was more comfortable the other way, and I honestly have no idea why they changed it, as I thought it to be running very smoothly. But I can get used to it, if they insist on keeping it that way.
I have a similar view. It's just inconvenient if you want to see your battle history or the leaderboard that you have to make a few clicks first. Above all, this information would have easily fitted on the page. Now it's almost a bit empty. I could probably get used to it, but I'd still like to have it all at a glance.
@snowboarderpete:
Not too keen on the new battle lobby, Nate did explain on discord how it leaves room for future updates but was released too soon. I'm hopeful it will be improved upon like the rest of the game has been
Ah, I actually didn't realize that it was released too early. Then of course I hope that it gets better with future updates. Still, I don't understand why they released it so early. There was actually no need for it, the old design still worked well.
@silentriot:
I feel like the new lobby design is mostly catering to tech-modernization/mobile which is important. We PC users just gotta get used to a few extra clicks for the time being unless redesigned.
That is of course a possibility. The developers generally want to improve mobile accessibility, which is a good thing. A lot of players just play from mobile devices and it's a big market when it comes to growth.
@cherokee4life:
IMMEDIATELY when I saw the announcement in Discord from Splinterlands about it, I checked it out and I took a screenshot and posted it in my Discord asking if there was a way to change it back. That should tell you what I think about it! 😁 I do like somethings about it if I am being honest but overall I hate it. My Dream scenario would be like the new PeakD editor. Where you can go into edit mode, click and drag boxes around to see what you want to see where you want to see them. I know it will NEVER happen but people with monitors larger than say 27 inches have so much wasted screen real-estate that could be better utilized. But oh well, first world problems am I right? lol
That would also be an interesting idea. I have to say I haven't tested the new PeakD editor yet, but it reads pretty cool. It would probably be a lot of work though. I totally agree with you about the waste, by the way. I have a relatively large screen myself and currently the lobby just looks empty and boring.
My Answer to the last Question:
In fact, there hasn't been any really positive feedback on the new battle lobby design. I think that says it all. And I think you could already read that I don't like the new design either. Firstly, I don't understand why it was changed so much in general. The old design was still relatively good in my opinion and the work could have been invested in other areas. I also think it's just awkward and a waste of space, as the lobby is so empty. But I remain positive and hope that future updates will improve this, similar to the battle result screen, which has been adjusted again.
And the Winner is...
