I'm hoping that you all had a great week! As I noted in my last note there have been some changes in my life lately that improved positively and has me busy. I have had several less than ideal situations the past couple of weeks and with that it has cut back on my time with my camera. Instead of letting my camera sit on the shelf, I thought of an idea that got me starving to see what would happen: I lent my camera to a very dear friend of mine who has a longstanding interest in photography. I think it's a wonderful idea to be able to infect others with your enthusiasm. It is not just about enjoying a hobby yourself but also the enjoyment that you can create for others.
I lent him the camera, and these are the first results he sent me. I was really taken aback! Although he took the photos in automatic mode, which personally I would not do, but I prefer to have full control of the settings. Either way for a novice the results are completely amazing. It just goes to show that sometimes you can produce some really great images without a wealth of technical knowledge.
The Moon – A Silent Companion
The first images he shared with me were of the moon. I thought it was interesting how he was able to take clearly defined photos that captured the craters and textures of the moon. The moon has always held intrigue for all of us humans. It is a companion to us in the night sky that influences our lives, loves and fears in profound ways. It represents cycles, it represents change and permanence in the same breath. The phases of the moon remind us of life's ebbs and flows; that from darkness there is always light. Though it appears so far away, the moon is ultimately so close to our existence. It affects the tides, and it embodies the myths and stories we have been telling each other for centuries. These photos portray a small portion of its magnificence, and reveal the beauty and detail it has when you stare closely at the moon. I could not be more proud of the results my friend received in taking these moon photos.
The Starry Sky – A Sea of Infinite Possibilities
He also sent me a few photos of the night sky after his moon photos. They are gorgeous with how the stars come through, especially having to shoot in automatic mode! Each little dot of light represents a world, a distant sun, maybe even an entirety of a system. When we look up at the starry sky, it shows us how small we are compared to the vastness of the universe, yet how special our position is in it. It really makes us contemplate the confines of our world and what else exists out there. In a world that moves so quickly, and is chiefly made up of voices, it is a luxury to take a moment to pause, look, and get lost in infinity. It's a breath to stop and take in the range of the cosmos— to notice that beauty is not only in the big and bright objects, but also in the many spots of light that brings it together into something beautiful! These images made me think about how important it is to switch perspectives, to see it through someone else's lens!
I hope you enjoyed the photos as much as I did. Have a wonderful weekend and enjoy it to the fullest!🙃✌️
Note: I've been trying for a while now to persuade my friend to finally create an account here and participate in all this. That will happen sooner or later. But what I'm getting at is, I would have simply given him the income generated from this post. Until that happens, though, I'll simply convert what's collected and give it to him in cash. He took the photos, not me.✌️ #sharingiscaring
