Letting myself get bored

Lately, I've actually been trying to let myself get bored

It sounds crazy when I put it like that, but what's really happening when you let your mind be bored, is you’re giving your brain space to process, connect and recover.

Constant stimulation from shit like scrolling, music, podcasts and even background noise, keeps your attention hijacked in microbursts.

It feels like relaxation because it’s passive, but it’s actually the opposite.

That being your brain is constantly switching context and never fully resting.

Boredom matters because it resets your attention, rebalancing your brain's dopamine system that runs on anticipation and novelty.

It makes space for creativity where your mind starts connecting dots you didn’t even know were there and helps you notice yourself again without the noise telling you what to think or feel.

It even slows your internal pace, reminding your body what calm actually feels like.

Basically, being bored provides an incubator for meaning and I'm going to find it.

Best of probabilities to you.

Dane.
