Hello!
This year, I headed to my parents' home for Christmas. My sister also joined us and it was nice to see everyone. The decision was made to have a hot cocoa contest, as if we hjadn't already had sufficient sugar. Here are the results!
Contestant #1 was a peanut butter hot chocolate. It contained both peanut butter and peanut butter whiskey. In my opinion, it had too much alcohol and I wasn't wild about the texture. The presentation was great, though, with the person-shaped cookie perched on the edge.
Contestant #2 was a home-made cocoa mix, using Ghirardelli cocoa powder, sugar, and a high-fat content milk. The chocolate was good, but the garnish and presentation were exceptional. Artistic chocolate drizzle art were poked in the real whipped cream atop this tasty cup.
The third contestant was an interesting hot cocoa mix that came in a glass container. The scent was a little underwhelming, but the flavor was very good and the chocolate wafer cookie definitely added to the experience.
This final hot cocoa was mine. Using a fancy hot cocoa mix, I used 1% milk and topped it with whipped cream and a round wafer cooki dipped in chocolate. Just enough Disaronno liqor was added for flavor. Everyone agreed that it was the best hot chocolate, but it did not win in the point tally. Maybe I should demand a recount.
Aside from the contest, it was a fairly relaxing and uneventful get-together. I'll leave you with one more photo of my beautiful Christmas cookies.
