Howdy,
Spring may have come a little early, this year. A couple of weeks ago, we had a cold stretch in which temperatures didn't even reach 0 F (about -17 C) for weeks. Now, a warm front has come through and temperatures are much higher than average. The weekend forecast calls for 60 F! Although not as warm last weekend, it was still enough to melt a lot of the ice structures at Triple Falls.
Taking just the new 50mm lens with provided a bit of a challenge, but some nice results. I purchased it about three weeks ago and have been continually impressed with it. Even at f/1.2, it is very, very sharp! The following photo was taken Friday evening, well after sunset. Even with very little light, the lens is able to create some bright images.
The structure is an ice tube that had cracked off and fallen to the ground. Water flowed through this all winter long.
Saturday's warm sunlight turned this opening into a really wet doorway. It was probably more than a little dangerous to be behind the falls, considering the massive 14+ foot columns of ice could break off and crush a person, but I was careful and didn't stay long.
As for the rest of life, work has been busy (lots of overtime), my Jeep needs to visit the mechanic, and that's about it. I'm looking forward to busy season being over and kayak season starting.
