A few days ago, I took a trip to a farm called Ziruma, located deep in the mountains of Montalbán, Carabobo, Venezuela. Of course, I brought my camera to capture everything that caught my eye.
Hace unos días realicé un viaje a una finca llamada Ziruma, la cual se ubica en plena montaña en Montalbán, Carabobo, Venezuela, y por supuesto me he llevado mi cámara para registrar todo aquello que llamase mi atención.
Normally, we're used to seeing landscape photos in full color. However, it hasn't always been this way; let's remember that in the early days of photography, it was all done in black and white. Though I'm sure that's something this community is very aware of.
Normalmente acostumbramos a contemplar fotos de paisaje en full color, sin embargo, no siempre ha sido así, recordemos que en los inicios de la fotografía, esta se hacía a blanco y negro, aunque de seguro, en esta comunidad es donde más se tendrá esto en cuenta.
But showcasing the beauty and magnitude of a landscape in grayscale is truly a challenge, and it's also an area where I don't consider myself an expert. Still, I wanted to give it a try. To do so, I drew a little inspiration from the majestic work of the renowned master photographer Ansel Adams, who simply took the art of black and white landscape photography to another level.
Pero mostrar la belleza y magnitud de un paisaje en escala de grises, es realmente un reto, y además, un área en la que no me considero experto, aún así he querido intentarlo. Para ello, me he inspirado un poco en el majestuoso trabajo del reconocido maestro de la fotografía Ansel Adams, quien simplemente llevó el arte de hacer paisajes a blanco y negro a otro nivel.
My work might not be a match for the master's, hehehe, but I still really enjoyed taking these photos. Besides the fact that the place is wonderful in person, seeing it in black and white gives it a dramatic touch that makes it feel like a mystical place, full of mystery and drama.
Mi trabajo tal vez no sea rival para el del mencionado maestro jejeje, pero de todos modos he disfrutado mucho de hacer estas fotos, además de que en persona ese lugar es maravilloso, pero verlo a blanco y negro le da un toque dramático que da la sensación de que se convierte en una especie de lugar místico, lleno de misterios y dramatismo.
I hope my photos are pleasing to everyone here. Perhaps I'll start taking monochromatic landscapes a bit more seriously.
Espero que mis fotos sean del agrado de los presentes, quizá me tome esto de los paisajes monocromáticos un poco más en serio.
Oh, and in case you're wondering, some photos might look like an ocean, but it's actually the clouds. At sunrise, they literally formed a thick sea that blocked the view downwards.
Ah y por si surge la duda, algunas fotos pareciera que fuese una especie de océano, pero en realidad son las nubes, que al amanecer formaban literalmente un mar tupido que no permitía la vista hacia abajo.
