We only have three rules in the Freewriters Community...
BE NICE!
Read other's work, and leave positive comments. If you can't think of anything nice to say move on.
BE ORIGINAL
NO plagiarism, NO AI-generated stories (write your own story; that is kinda the whole point!) Freewrite from your own mind, don't copy and paste, use your brain!
BE HERE
to avoid spam ONLY cross posts related to Freewrite prompt allowed. Cross posts must be authorised by Admin/Moderators. Any unauthorised Cross Posting will be muted
On the whole, these rules are respected - thank you!
We do occasionally come across posts copied from other places on the internet - usually brand new users who either don't understand Hive rules (or do understand but are just trying to "gain" the system).
We also have some Freewriters posts we suspect are generated by AI.
So... What's the point?!
The aim of the Freewriters Community is to encourage people to write!
The original idea of the Freewritehouse was to give people the confidence (and - with a daily prompt - the motivation) to realise they could write something every day - all it takes is 5 minutes!
Freewriters contests are supposed to be FUN, make you think, and inspire your creativity.
Here, in the Freewriters Community, we don't care about the "creativity" of machines (it's supposed "creativity" harvested - (cough) stolen - from other people's work, without prior consent) - we care about YOUR creativity.
If we wanted to read A.I. generated stories we can find those all over the internet!
Freewriters want to read YOUR stories
Generated from YOUR brain!
I guess there will always be people who can't help themselves and will cheat (some well known authors and poets have stolen other people's work and passed it off as their own to win prizes and awards).
But really, what can anyone gain from using A.I. in our community?
All of this to say, if you are tempted to use A.I. (or steal someone else's work) to produce a story in the Freewriters Community
(pretty)
please
DON'T!
A.I. may have its uses, but not in our community.
So please:
Respect other users of the Freewriters Community
and above all
Respect yourself
Don't use A.I. in our community
Thank you!
We are looking forward to reading your posts!
Keep on Freewriting!
