Presentation
All the techniques for presenting poetry are also necessary for group speaking. In addition, the group needs the following disciplines:
a. Focus
The group should focus on the same point e.g. the adjudicator.
- At times there may be a reason to look at one another or to synchronise a visual movement e.g. looking in the same direction at something approaching
- This gives a feeling of togetherness.
b. Controlled gestures (e.g. hand or head movements)
- These may add to the effectiveness of the work and are perfectly permissible.
- However, these should not be overdone and unnecessary movements or movement for the sake of movement should be avoided.
The overall aim of Choral Speaking is to speak together, feel together, think together.
