Here are some shots I've taken during a walk in the French town Mer near the Loire last week.
When checking out the photos I thought they would look really nice to post in black and white, so I decided to post them as an entry for the #monomad challenge.
I tried to
I really like details of buildings. The subject doesn't need to be beautiful to make a nice photo I think. This window with scratches on the glass, bladdering paint and some dried out succulents can really tell a story I think.

Alsmost every French town at least has a statue to honour those who fought and/or lost their lives either in the first or the second world war. I had to look it up, but J. Manoury seems to be Michel-Joseph Maunoury, a French general who became Marshal of France after World War I.

This view was also quite typical to me. Some of the houses are completely overgrown with ivy. Even the shutters of the window on the first floor are covered. I even wonder if there might be a window on the side of the house as well 😀
Apart from that you see electrical lines everywhere. I wonder if anywone would onderstand how the network of cables are connected.

In a blog about typical French villages, a church cannot be missed. This is one side of the tower. I couldn't photograph the front of the church without a wide angle shot because the street was too narrow. But I liked this side of the tower too. It's a bit strange that it is not very symmetrical.

As I always do, I entered the church. Except from the organist, who was practicing I was the only one in the church. It had an interesting construction of large beams and a dark roof. But the light walls and floor made it not too dark.

And of course the stained-glass windows, which I thought wouldn't be impressive when I turned them into black and white, but I was actually pleasantly surprised by the result:

But I'll let you decide for yourself:

Thanks for visiting this simple, yet beautiful town with me!
