>Sometimes in our lives we all have pain We all have sorrow >But if we are wise We know that there's always tomorrow Lean on me, when you're not strong And I'll be your friend I'll help you carry on >For it won't be long 'Til I'm gonna need Somebody to lean on Please swallow your pride If I have things you need to borrow For no one can fill those of your needs That you won't let show --- ![](https://images.ecency.com/DQmQtoRysyAZU7bgYV5WKT4UKZTSLVwsZjCLcZ6vbbp5DRs/1760385806856.jpg) I had a conversation with a friend days ago, which not only made me dig up the lyrics above but also made me go ahead to play the song for her. I happened to assist her in difficult situations, and while she really appreciates my help, she kind of felt as if her ego and pride were bruised. I understand where she was coming from. When you have been let down by people in the past, or simply you don't like bothering others with your problems, asking for help when in need becomes like a Hercules task. You tell yourself, "No, you can go through this alone, you don't need to bother anyone," while you wallow and struggle in silence. It's not good for you. It's self-sabotage and can hinder one's growth. When we don't know how to draw the line between feeling like we are a burden on people who can render us help and knowing when to let people in and assist, it can hinder us from achieving things we ought to achieve. I had to remind this my friend that it's okay to ask for help when we can't help ourselves. We all need help someday, and she should learn to start getting used to it. I used to be like this my friend, until I met someone who taught me that I do not need to rely only on myself all the time. Without speaking a word, her actions and way of life show it's okay to lean on someone without feeling inadequate or less of ourselves. She taught me there is a wisdom behind knowing when to ask for a helping hand or a shoulder to lean on, and it's okay. Nobody is an island, no one can go far alone, and that is why God has created every one of His creations in pairs. Because no matter who we are, or our status, everyone needs somebody sometimes. So the next time you need a helping hand or a shoulder to lean on, and the right people are there to help you, do not let your pride get in the way. It's okay to lean on someone, for it won't be long before they will need your help as well. What more can I say? This legend, "Bill Withers"—may his gentle soul continue to rest in peace—captured in his song *Lean on Me* why we shouldn't let our pride get in the way when we truly need someone and have someone to lean on. And today, I lost someone dear to my heart through childbearing which makes this lyrics hit differently. https://youtu.be/fOZ-MySzAac?si=eSlw6L5aubZ9KFah
The next time a part of your brain says, "You can do this alone, don't ask for help," remember this song *Lean on Me* and remember it's okay to seek help when you genuinely need it. And remember that God has a way of putting the right people in our paths, just at the right time when we need them. These are my musical inspired thoughts today, thank you dearly for your time and support. I wish you a great time at your end. @funshee ❣️👏 Image from [Here](https://youtu.be/fOZ-MySzAac?si=eSlw6L5aubZ9KFah)
