Morning in Monochrome

This morning felt different in the best way. Last night’s heavy rain left the air cool and easy to breathe, and that softness carried into my mood. I love days like this because the cool weather slows everything down. No rush, no stress, just a quiet space to notice small things that usually hide in plain sight.

One leaf caught my attention, holding a handful of raindrops like tiny glass beads. I leaned in and stayed there for a while, watching how the droplets clung to the surface and traced the leaf’s veins. In black and white, those details become the whole story. The soft light turned the water into bright accents, and the leaf’s texture revealed its fine lines like threads in a fabric. It’s a simple scene, but that’s exactly why I enjoy it—there’s nothing extra to distract from the shape, the sheen, and the gentle curve running through the frame.

I’m skipping my usual four-photo window today and sharing just this one image. I didn’t manage to take more, but honestly, I didn’t feel the need. Sometimes a single frame is enough. It’s a small reminder that photography doesn’t always require big plans or busy streets. A quiet morning after rain can offer everything—contrast, texture, and a calm feeling I can carry through the rest of the day.

Raindrops don’t stay long. They either dry up or slide off when the wind nudges them. I’m glad I caught them before they moved on. Little moments like this keep me coming back to the camera, especially on cool mornings when the world feels kind.
