Are you new to Splinterlands and searching for some advice, then you found the correct series! In this specific showcase episode, I wanted to talk about the new Meta to play the Life Splinter. Now, I am aware that many people probably already discovered to use the Life Splinter a different way but for me it came with the recent addition of reward cards and summoners. We will talk about, how the strategy to play the Life element changed, which cards are common to use and in the end look at an example battle against a very similar opponent! With that being said, if this article motivated you to start playing this amazing game, then feel free to join the fun over the following link:

### New Life Meta
Let’s start off with the very obvious addition of Franz Ruffmane as summoner! In comparison to the previous Rare summoner, General Sloan, this summoner is providing us with an additional armor. This will be important alter for the selection of our cards but also is never a bad card to have in the life splinter, since these cards are generally lacking some protection. This allows us to be a bit more flexible with the selction of cards and is not guilting us in using Ranged attackers like it was with General Sloan.
On top of that, the card allows us to use a Gladius card which seems to be more and more popular. With the Gladius cards having the bloodlust Ability it is very powerful to have these units on your side, since only one elimination of the opposite side could cause a snowball effect of stat increases!

### Common Cards To Use!
Now that we understand, what is causing the general shift, let’s talk about cards that are being used nowadays. The first three cards are not available on the market and can not be bought. Nevertheless, I see these cards very often in the team of my opponents. On the one hand it is somehow surprising that a lot of players received these legendary cards, on the other hand they are not tradable so there is no need to be jealous about that.
Anyways, I think Captain Katie is overall known as a beast on the field. With 3 mana attack, the Sniper ability and the Bloodlust ability, this unit is just cutting through everyone on the field. I would never use her to early on the field since she did not have time to increase her stats, but in the third or fourth position, she is perfectly fine. Furthermore, we have Aves Sturgis who is outstanding with its Weapons Training ability! Since Life has a handful support units that can have no attack, this card is actually pretty good to increase your overall damage by a bit. The obvious downside is the low amount of health but this is why we need to protect this card as long as possible. But how do we do that? The best choice is with a tanky Taunt card! Iziar is the perfect addition to the team with her 2 magic attack, she can be placed in the last position and still be able to attack. On top of that, she is also having the void ability which helps her to keep her 12 starting health high against Magic attackers.

Next up we have the cards that are actually available on the market for everyone to purchase. While Djinn Renova is a very nice card to add to every deck and is not costing a fortune, a consideration of Adelade is always worth it but not a must. Anyways, Renova is a very good unit since she increases the health values of our team by one. This way we can buff our team a bit up and allow us to take more damage. On top of that she has 2 magic attack herself and with 6 health can take a bit of damage as well. On the other hand we have Adelade who is best used with armor units. See, this is where the summoner kicks in. Since he is providing us with additional armor, Adelade can play out her Repair ability on every unit that is being shifted into the tank position. Additionally, she is able to fly which makes her a good asset in earthquake battles like we are about to see.

### Example Battle
With the general cards out of the way, let’s take a look on how our team is performing in a do or die battle. It is an interesting battle because we are going up against another life player but with a higher level summoner! This usually means that he is able to ise stronger cards in battle and that we are at a disadvantage. Well, with the use of our Taunt card and the strategy that I described before, I think that we were able to win this battle very comfortably fair and Square but judge for yourself: Would you consider playing this team?
