Hello, friends. A while back, I shared a small sculpture of Sandshrew, a simply awesome Pokémon, with the community. It's part of a Pokémon collection that I've been putting together for some time now. You can see that post by following this link: https://peakd.com/hive-189641/@gaboamc2393/diy-sandshrew-sculpture-eng-spa Well, today it's time for a fairly simple Pokémon, but one that is certainly not easy to make at the scale at which I started making these figurines. Voltorb is small, so I made it to scale with other Pokémon I've already made. I invite you to join me in the creative process of this well-known Pokémon. >># Español >>Saludos amigos. Specifically, I used red and white modeling clay, which are the basic colors of a Poké Ball. >># Paso a paso >>Los materiales que utilicé para esta figurita fueron cuatro, plastilina, cartulina y pegamento. Específicamente usé plastilina de color rojo y color blanco, que son los colores básicos de una Pokeball.  One might think that it is relatively easy to make a Pokémon like this, but in reality it is not so easy because you have to make the two parts separately and ensure that both parts fit together and do not look different from each other. For example, to make the white part, I molded half of a circle, but it did not turn out perfectly, so I took my cutter and made a cut at the top so that that part would be aligned thanks to the cut. >>Uno podría pensar que es relativamente fácil hacer un Pokémon así, pero en realidad no es tan fácil porque hay que hacer las dos partes por separado y que ambas partes calcen y no se vean distintas una de la otra. >> >>Por ejemplo, para hacer la parte blanca moldeé una mitad de un círculo, pero no quedó perfecto, así que tomé mi cutter e hice un corte en la parte superior para que esa parte quedara alineada gracias al corte. |||| |-|-|-| I did something similar with the red part. If you look closely, when shaping the red part in the same way as the white part, it ends up a little longer and doesn't look as neat as the white part. >>Con la parte roja hice algo similar. Si se fijan al moldear la parte roja al igual que la blanca, esta queda un poco más alargada y no se ve tan prolija como la parte blanca.  That's why, just as I made a cut in the white part, I also made a cut in the red part so that the flat part would be neat and fit well with the white part. The join isn't perfect, obviously, because it's handmade, but at least I try to make it as good as possible with these techniques. That way, they can be joined together with glue without any problems. >>Por eso, así como se hace el corte en la parte blanca, también hice un corte en la parte roja para que la parte plana quede prolija y calce bien con la parte blanca. No es perfecta la unión, evidentemente, porque es algo artesanal, pero al menos se busca que quede lo mejor posible con estas técnicas. Así se pueden unir con pegamento sin ningún problema. ||| |-|-| We could say that if we left it like this, it could be a Poké Ball, but now we have to make the eyes. To do this, I cut out a couple of right-angled triangles. Look at the size of these eyes compared to my finger; that gives you an idea of how difficult it is to make these little figures. >>Podríamos decir que si se deja así, podría hacer una Pokeball, pero hay que hacerle ahora los ojos. Para esto corté un par de triángulo rectángulo. Fíjense el tamaño que tienen estos ojos en comparación con mi dedo, eso les hace tener una idea de la dificultad en hacer estas figuritas.  Okay, after cutting out the eyes, they are placed on either side of the red part of the sphere that I already made. Notice that they are not too far from the junction with the white part; there is just a slight gap between the eyes and the edge of the red area. Again, you can see how tiny the figurine is compared to my hand. >>Bien, después de cortar los ojos estos se colocan a cada lado en la parte roja de la esfera que ya hice. Fíjense que no están demasiado lejos de la unión con la parte blanca, simplemente se mantiene una separación leve entre los ojos y el límite del área roja. >> >>Nuevamente, pueden ver el diminuto tamaño de la figurita en comparación con mi mano.  Obviously, the Pokémon is round, so it won't stay in one position. To solve this, you simply need to make a base to support it. To do this, cut a small piece of recycled cardboard. I cut the piece of cardboard into a triangle shape, but with rounded corners. I added a little bit of glue to the center and that's where I attached my Voltorb once it was finished, so that it could stay there once the glue dried. >>Como es evidente, el Pokémon es redondo, así que no se podrá mantener en una posición fija. Para solucionar esto simplemente se debe hacer una base de apoyo. Para esto se corta un trocito de cartulina reciclada. >> >>El trocito de cartón lo recorté como un triángulo, pero con las puntas redondeadas. En el centro agregué un poquitito de pegamento y es allí en donde fijé a mi Voltorb una vez terminado, para que se pueda mantener allí una vez seque el pegamento. ||| |-|-|  ### And that's how the figurine was finished.
