After a long, hopeful wait, a dendro character finally arrived with the aesthetics of proper nature. Genshin Impact introduced the Dendro element three years ago, and I was hoping for characters with a great design that reflected nature, flowers, plants, and animals. Instead, Dendro was more about technology, somehow. Nahida produces digital flowers and uses a mouse for charged attacks; Alhaitham does nothing nature-like; Kaveh is an architect; Kirara only delivers packages... I could go on, but you get the idea. The most nature-reflecting characters were Tighnari and Emily. But all that shameful past is over with the Arrival of Lauma. She is the newest dendro unit opening the region of Nod-Krai. Antlers, connection with animals, moon powers, ancient glyph, and tree summoning, bloom-related reactions; she came loaded! Here I share my experience with Lauma so far.

Lauma is a moonchanter, part of the Frostmoon Scions tribe who adore Aria, the frostmoon. Lauma is her spiritual leader and faith pillar. This character is based on the Baltic mythological beings called Lauma or Laumė in Lithuanian. They are a forest, a fay-like creature with many descriptions, one being part mare with a centaur aspect. Part of the tales mixed the existence of Laumas with a love story involving the male god of the moon.

I can see this mythology all present in this new character. Lauma has antlers, a deep connection with nature, and can transform into a centaur. Another cool feature in Lauma is that she can understand animals and communicate with them. During exploration, animals approach with different interactions, like healing lauma and bringing her ores or resources.

With Lauma, Genshin is introducing Lunar-bloom. As with Lunar-charged, this reaction is highly based on elemental mastery (EM) and can give critical hits. Lauma's kit request +1000 EM, which I could only get using Citlali's weapon. I equipped her with the A Sumeru set, giving elemental mastery, then attack or more EM depending on your party. Ideally, she is meant to use a Nod-Krai set, Silken Moon probably, but my goal is to have her functional while I farm artifacts to test more builds. Lauma's talents are at level 10, with decent 50/134 Crit stats.

Since lunar-bloom requires a high Elemental Mastery stat, I built all I could around it. Lauma has Aino as a companion to increase the party's moon sign, which increases damage; she also wears the Silk moon artifact set to further increase lunar reactions. I also placed Nahida on this team. She increases elemental mastery based on the character with the highest value on the team (that would be Lauma with 1200 EM), and she is using her signature weapon and set, both of which help increase damage.
Lastly, I placed Baizu because bloom reaction damages the team as well. The damage was reduced from 5% to 2%, but that still adds up. Also, Baizu increases bloom and lunar bloom damage. The only element left on this team would be to place the Instructor set on Baizu to increase the party's EM further. With all this setup, Lauma reaches 1846 EM after a full rotation.

Lauma in Combat
So my best-working rotation currently goes around like this: I place Nahida field to boost EM and use her skill. Then, I use Aino's skill to proc a bloom reaction and activate the silkmoon set. That is followed by Aino's ultimate to ensure more blooms. IT is finally time for Baizu to use his skill (twice with the proper weapon or C1) and his ultimate to boost bloom and lunar-bloom damage.

When all that is set, it's time for Lauma. I use her ultimate to boost bloom reactions, and then cast her skill for one lunar bloom attack. IT is important to notice this only happens if you hold the skill; otherwise, it will be a regular dendro damage. This is the only move in all of Lauma's kit that actually does lunar-bloom damage. She is thought to be a support, sup-DPS unit, but she can be played like this for nuke damage. Now, my highest number achieved is 265k; I think there is more nuking to work on. I have seen numbers above 350k, with some being about 500k or even higher. I would be happy to achieve those. We'll see as I refine my builds.
I am truly happy about this character, her design, her backstory, and even the mythology it took inspiration from. Her role and kit are a huge leak for Dendro users (some say equivalent to archon constellations), so the meta is definitely being pushed forward with Lauma. I recommend getting her and enjoying all she has to offer to teams.
