A little while ago I had a three day weekend after too many days of work in a row and decided a hike was going to be part of the weekend. Because I didn't want to range too far away from home I decided to go to my back yard, the Barossa Valley, which is a world-renowned wine and vineyard region, and hike there. It wasn't strenuous but was superbly peaceful and despite the temperature being cool it was sunny so quite acceptable.
I had my girlfriend with me of course and we carried a picnic lunch in our backpacks so stopped on a grassy hill overlooking a small valley of verdant rolling hills below it and ate, sipped from the thermos flask of coffee and chatted. She laid back, head in my lap and took a little snooze while I watched the valley below, listened to the birds and the sounds of silence all around me.
This post has some images I took that day as we hiked around. I found some sculptures along the way made by a local iron-worker and took some shots also, two of which I've added.
