I'll keep these posts quite short but hope someone reads something they can fit into their own life of they can use to good effect. Three words I value greatly are *ownership, responsibility and discipline* and this is the third and last part in a three-part set of posts on each of these concepts, you can ***see the second part here*** if you would like to. *** *** #### Discipline Applying discipline is hard, I'll admit to that, it often pushes someone to the limit of their mental, emotional and physical endurance and in the moment, when things are the hardest, is when a person may want to pull back...but is quitting really a viable option? If you think it is that's ok, but I tend to think it's not a very good option at all and so I have a *never-quit ethos** and it's the level of discipline I apply to my life that upholds that., although I'm also subject to fallibility like everyone else. Am I always disciplined? If I said yes it'd be a lie, no one is; do I apply discipline mostly and with conviction? Of course, and I've reaped the benefits of doing so in many aspects of life. I'll not go as far as saying my "amazing life" is due to discipline alone but *having the discipline to continually apply all of the other elements has been a big part of it.* I'm not just talking about the discipline it takes to get up early in the morning, eat the right foods and do the right physical activity and so on - definitely part of it - but there's so much more. > Discipline is about having the right mindset as often as possible, to be consistent and persistent, to rebound from failure - and see failure for what it is, *an opportunity to learn, grow and develop.* It's about knowing one's code and sense of honour and integrity and sticking to/upholding it. It's about having the discipline to live one's best life, cease wasting time on senseless pursuits and to be humble, gracious and generous...it's a lot of things and each of them help craft a better life. *** Has discipline, having it or not having it, impacted on your life? What was the biggest area of impact and why? Have you struggle to apply discipline to certain things and if so what and why? Comment if you'd like to.
