Nos enseñan el amor sin apegos, a no tener que esperar retribuciones, a ser puntuales con la comida, ya que no es fácil concentrarse en el amor cuando la panza está vacía. Veo un gato en la calle y me paro a saludarlo, veo un gato en una tienda y entro a saludarlo, veo un gato que me mira, y lo miro y le hablo, en mi idioma que es humano, pero que a la vez parece de gato, porque el gato me responde con un miau, y ya eso es un halago. >I see a cat on the street and I stop to greet it, I see a cat in a store and I go in to greet it, I see a cat looking at me, and I look at it and I speak to it, in my language, which is human but also seems cat-like, because the cat responds with a meow, and that's already a compliment. Hay gatos frecuentes que veo a cada rato, andan por la plaza, son del vecino o son mis propios gatos, hay gatos efímeros que sólo ví un día, algunos quedaron en mi memoria, otros solamente en mi retina. Hay gatos con finales felices y otros que tendrán que intentarlo en una próxima vida.
