Recordando la celebración del día de San Juan / Remembering the celebration of Saint John's Day

Saludos hivers, hoy tenía ganas de hacer una publicación con fotos de personas así que buscando en los archivos de mi teléfono, conseguí algunas que habían quedado sin publicar del día de la fiesta de San Juan, una de las fiestas más populares en Venezuela, especialmente en los estados costeros del centro del país como Miranda, La Guaira, Carabobo y Aragua, este último, el estado donde vivo. Por lo general, el tipo de fotografía que mas suelo hacer es el de naturaleza y animales, pero cuando hay eventos de este tipo, me animo a sacar mi teléfono para capturar las siempre atractivas imágenes que ofrecen estas celebraciones. >Hello hivers. Today I felt like posting photos of people, so searching through my phone's archives, I found some unpublished photos from the San Juan festival, one of the most popular festivals in Venezuela, especially in the central coastal states of Miranda, La Guaira, Carabobo, and Aragua, the state where I live. I usually take nature and animal photography, but when there are events like this, I'm encouraged to take out my phone to capture the always captivating images these celebrations offer. El día de San Juan se celebra cada 24 de junio y es una mezcla de religión, folklore, cultura y mucha música y colorido, todo esto gracias al aporte de la influencia africana que ayudó a transformar este día tan importante para la iglesia católica en algo más que una simple fecha religiosa. >Saint John's Day is celebrated every June 24th and is a blend of religion, folklore, culture, and a wealth of music and color, all thanks to the African influence that helped transform this important day for the Catholic Church into something more than just a religious holiday. Las cofradías de los diferentes estados costeros se reúnen para celebrar al santo con la alegría típica de la herencia africana, el ritmo de los tambores, el colorido de las flores que llegan con la primavera, la esperanza de que San Juan concederá los deseos que se le pidieron, y por último, la alegría de festejar la hermandad y rendirle honores al bautista. Es una experiencia encantadora estar rodeada de toda esa energía acompañada de los cantos y de la música de los sanjuaneros, nombre que reciben los miembros de las cofradías. >The brotherhoods of the different coastal states gather to celebrate the saint with the joy typical of their African heritage: the rhythm of drums, the colorful flowers that arrive with spring, the hope that Saint John will grant their wishes, and finally, the joy of celebrating brotherhood and honoring the Baptist. It's a delightful experience to be surrounded by all this energy, accompanied by the songs and music of the Sanjuaneros, the name given to the members of the brotherhoods. Cada cofradía trae sus banderas, colores, canciones y hasta coreografias, así como lo que no puede faltar, los pequeños altares donde sacan a bailar al santo. Las mujeres con sus vestidos de flores, los hombres con sus sombreros, todos combinados armónicamente con los colores de sus cofradías, cantan y danzan con alegría bajo el sol resplandeciente de la mañana, en la ciudad, la celebración termina en la plaza, mientras que en la costa, la fiesta se extiende sobre la arena y la playa hasta el amanecer 💃🏻🏖️🌄. Y como dice el dicho: "si San Juan lo tiene, San Juan te lo da". >Each brotherhood brings its flags, colors, songs, and even choreography, as well as, of course, the small altars where they bring out the saint to dance. The women in their floral dresses, the men in their hats, all harmoniously matching the colors of their brotherhoods, sing and dance joyfully under the bright morning sun. In the city, the celebration ends in the plaza, while on the coast, the festivities extend over the sand and beach until dawn 💃🏻🏖️🌄.
