Hi there, community. The illustrator of my book, “Just a Bit of Chaos,” has just sent me some possible cover images, and since I found all of them interesting but I’m terribly indecisive about these things, I’d like you all to help me choose.
This book was the first one I finished and the first one that won me an award, back in 2023. However, for reasons only those familiar with the Cuban context will understand, it hasn’t been ready until now. It’s unusual, made up of standalone stories. It’s not my best work, but I’m fond of it because it was my first. It blends fantasy with science fiction.
The concept of the illustration, in the artist’s own words, is: “More than an illustration, it’s a cover design, intended for printing in a provincial publishing house with limitations. It aims to clearly convey the notions of Chaos and Science Fiction (in a Cuban way, in your style). Terms that allude to movement, spatial and temporal transitions, codes. Not always or solely toward disorder or the worst, but toward a different order than the ordinary, established, and accepted one. From the natural to the technological, from the concrete-figurative to the abstract, from the seen to the imagined or hidden. Hence, the hybridization, the transitional, little by little, the composition, and the formal and symbolic motifs. The execution, artistic and freehand, far from overused AI, combined with digital forms and touches.”
The illustrator, J. Ángel Téllez, has given me permission to share his work on this platform for the survey. I’ve attached evidence of this bellow:
So, these are the illustrations. Below, please vote for your favorite and, if you'd like to add anything, feel free to leave it in the comments.
