Even our brain is made up of fat, proteins, amino acids, glucose, and traces of micronutrients, and each of these has its impact on the brain’s activity including mood, energy, function, and development. A lot of us just eat things and then we begin to wonder why we feel the way we do after eating them, For example, you take coffee at night when you are about to go to bed, and wonder why you are feeling alert. Well, I’ll leave you to find out the cause of that because I don't understand why you will take coffee when you are about to go to bed when it is not like you are going for night shift as a security guard.
Fatty acids like Omega-3 and Omega-6 are very important to the brain as they have been linked to the prevention of degenerative brain conditions and we can get Omega-3 and Omega-6 from our diet. When I say fat, I do not mean excessive eating of saturated and trans fats, as these fats can affect brain health in the long run. Proteins and Amino acids can affect how we feel and our mood. They contain precursors to neurotransmitters which carry signals between neurons and these are responsible for mood, sleep, weight, and attentiveness.
The gut has also been said to be affected by what we eat. Our microbiome is affected by a lot of things including medication, environment, how we were born, and food. Among all, food is the one factor that we have complete control over because we decide what to eat and what not to eat and these things affect our gut health. You must have heard that eating food that contains fiber is good for you. This is so because when we eat fiber, it produces fatty acids that nourish the gut, prevent inflammation, and improve immune function.
The body itself needs nutrients to be healthy and none of the junk sugary food you eat contains the nutrients you need for your health. So my friend, I know you love sugar a lot and you love to eat some other weird-looking things that you call food but in reality, they do not add any health benefit to you, Let me just advise you, stop eating them and start eating food that will nourish your system.
