My day started with a boat ride from Labuan Bajo. The water was a stunning blue, and the views of the volcanic islands with their dry, hilly landscapes were beautiful. There are around 29 islands in Komodo National Park, and we visited a few of them on our trip.
Our first stop was Komodo Island, home to the famous Komodo dragons. A park ranger met us and led a group walk to find the lizards. The dragons are huge, and seeing them up close was amazing. Our ranger was good at keeping us a safe distance away while still letting us get a good look at these animals. Komodo dragons are the world's largest lizards, and they can be found on a few islands in the area, including Komodo and Rinca.
After seeing the dragons, we went to Pink Beach. The sand here really is pink. It gets its color from tiny red coral pieces mixed with the white sand. We spent some time snorkeling in the clear water. The coral reefs were full of life, with many different kinds of tropical fish. It was like swimming in a colorful underwater garden.
Our final stop was Padar Island. We took a hike to the top of a hill for a lookout point. The path was easy to follow but the heat made it a bit of a challenge. The view from the top was worth every step. I could see three separate bays, each with a different colored beach: white, black, and pink. The scenery was incredible, with rolling hills and the sea stretching out below us.
My day trip to Komodo National Park was a great experience. The dragons were impressive, the snorkeling was fantastic, and the views from Padar Island were unforgettable. I'm glad I got to see this special place.
