The Dream That Kept Me Rolling

We all have a dream and dreaming is one of the things that we have that no one could take away from us. Dream of owning something we do not have, that we cannot have is one of the most common dream that we were dreaming of.

Well, wheels is one of that many dreams that I wanted to have. Growing in a very far area, and riding a tricycle going to school is too expensive for me. With my 10 pesos allowance back then and 6 pesos one way fare would make me short on money thinking that I need to buy dish for lunch too. Having so much trouble just going to school is already a frustration to me and dreaming a means of transportation means a lot to me. And I say this to myself that ” soon I will buy a car of my own”.

The Roadblocks Along the Way

Dreams don’t become reality overnight. Even after landed a part time job as a college instructor I couldn’t still afford to buy even a bicycle. And looking to my colleagues and even my students they all have a means of transportation going back home. And since our class is night time at the end of almost every night. I am the only one left on the bus station waiting for the first trip bus at dawn.

Rolling Into Reality

Fast forward to landing a permanent job at DEPED, I am now able to provide for my big family. And being the bread winner, I still need to prioritize things especially in handling money. Paying debts, providing the basic needs for the family and making myself rewarded at the same time for Salary will never be enough.

After 2 years, I did get a loan in a bank and buy an old and used van for my family and I thought “This is it!, The dream that I’ve been dreaming of” - but it didn’t last for long. Just a year after it is not working anymore, there are lots of issue that needs to be fixed but I do not have the resources or finances to make it work and it would be too expensive for me. So I decided to sell it into a very small amount.

Another 2 years had passed and that dream still clings into my mind. And Praise God, He gave me an opportunity to earn and save a lot. I joined into a network Marketing Company and just a few months I was able to save money and assume my friends car.

Dreams vs. Reality: The Lesson Learned

Now, I am driving for more than 4 years now, and since then, I don’t need to wake up too early just to catch the first trip nor hurriedly queue in line to wait for the next batch of tricycle. I no longer wait for the buses or tricycle to be full first before departing, I no longer fight over the seats, nor gets upset when there are lot of stop over because I might get late. I won’t endure the scorching heat of the sun and sticky sweats flowing in my body, nor I won’t get soaked from the rain anymore, neither get stuck by the crowd waiting for the bus, jeep or tricycle to pass. Now, my hairstyle will still be the same till I reach my destination. Now, I won’t worry anymore if there’s a meeting at night or out of town for I could still go home even at midnight or dawn without worries. I could change clothes or shoes whenever, wherever. I could get and leave anything that I need in my car. That it became my second home, my CARry on-Storage. Where Wet tissue, paper towel, alcohol and even paper plates, paper cups and Hand gloves are there. Now I am beyond grateful that the long term dream has come into reality.

Having the car that I’ve been dreaming and now enjoying its comfort made me realize that manifestation and determination must be align to your dreams and you must never give up on it.

Dreams are the fuel, but reality is the ride. You can’t reach the destination without faith, hard work, and the courage to keep moving forward. For me, this car of mine is not just a vehicle—it’s a symbol of hope, persistence, and answered prayers. A reminder that what once seemed impossible is now parked right outside my door.

**Life Lesson: **

When your dreams feel too far, remember—they’re not meant to stay as dreams. Keep going, keep rolling, keep praying, and keep working. One day, you’ll find yourself driving right into the reality you once imagined.
