Yesterday, was magnificent! My baby brother got hitched!

I mean, I am always a bit of an elated toddler when it comes to being excited about human celebratory gatherings, but this one was super beyond special because it was my brother! And my new sister! I mean, they have been together for almost a decade, but still, my family grew in the most awesome way yesterday!

Hmm. I might still be a touch excited!

Bro and Sis wanted to keep the affair simple, so they got married at our local wedding chapel The Hitching Post in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. Most of Sis's family have been married at that place, so I think it was cool to carry on the tradition. Something even more amusing to me is that so many people showed up for the nuptials that we had to have the ceremony under the willow trees at the court house across the street. I know that my dad liked blocking traffic in his scooter chair as we all filed across the road.

It was fun.

What was most fun was seeing the love and regard for each other written all over the faces of my bro and sis. Marriage is cool.

Then we headed out to a dive bar restaurant up in Hauser. The owners of the place let the fam have it for the reception, and when I got there I helped my ma set up the magnificent cake she spent HOURS decorating. Then I also buzzed around helping my dear friend arrange and place the flower arrangements. I was a bit of a busy bee. As was my son's girlfriend. I love my little cultist, and if my feelings about that relationship are accurate, I wouldn't be surprised if another wedding is in the future.

I mean, one already is, my daughter and my future son are getting married in 2027, and I think one more wedding may follow beyond that. It's gonna be fun.

Because in true to our family way, we had a bit of celebratory shenanigans happen as well. My little cultist loves to commit acts of vandalism in the most awesome way, so she and I decorated the bro's big black truck with garland. Our flower friend then gave my son's girlfriend an entire bag of things like tulle and pearl garland, and let's just say by the time the girl was done Bro's truck was pretty.

He was several Summer Shandy's in and my cultist wanted him to go see her handy work. So being like Fred off of Scooby Doo, I hatched a plan. First, I was going to steal his food and take off running towards his truck, but he slammed his empty chicken tenders basket on the table next to me and looked at me in his most sibling challenging of ways. So I just blurted the obvious baiting statement.

"I'll race you to your truck."

I don't care how old you are, if you have a sibling who's close to you in age, and a gauntlet is thrown, you rise to the challenge. I sprang to my feet, Bro yarded me down the stairs and lined me up to start the race. Of course an audience followed.

Now may be time to mention that I was wearing heeled suede boots and the bro was wearing Hey Dudes. We were so caught up int he spirit of battle that both of us didn't consider if we should engage in the competition. We just went at it.

Bro cheated of course, he took running at the count of two. I sprinted after him to catch up. There was a short rock wall separating the restaurant yard from the parking lot. It was the wall that became my cheating brother's karmic downfall.

As he leaped over the wall, his foot realized that the ground on the other side was uneven and his large body compensated by pitching forward. As I gracefully leapt over the wall and alighted next him I watched in delighted horror as he hit the ground and rolled at least four times. I continued sprinting, granted it was with a more of a triumphant gait and reached his truck with ease. I then fell over laughing. We all did.

Bro rolls pretty good for a big fella.

And now we have a memory. And he has a bit of gravel in his knee. It was a win-win for all involved.

It was a good day.

And as most of the time, all of the images in this post were taken on the author's non gravel covered or barked up unlike her brother who shouldn't have cheated by starting early at the race iPhone.
