Hey Hive! Since we can't really move much, here's another throwback from a few months ago. This is the place we spend our last day of 2020 at and it's a pretty cool spot to have a meal at. Nat is usually the one that finds these places and this time was no exception. We wanted to do a new years eve dinner that doesn't take place on New Years eve itself..😀That's why we went to this place the day before.
Latena Hotel & Cafe
The place itself is huge. It has a bar area, different scenery in different corners, rooftop with a glass floor, many decorations, trees, lights. It is so much going on but the atmosphere is quite nice.
We found out there was a band later on. The place is so huge we never went past the area where the band was when we first came back. We could hear the singer though and knew there was definitely live music somewhere near.
We sat at the top floor. It was pretty nice up there, a lot better light which helped with photos. The place was pretty full even though there was so much space. The bigger tables seemed pretty comfy with pillows on the seats and blankets. We sat on a smaller table for two on the side which had less features but it wasn't bad at all. (Just sligtly smaller table that barely could fit all the food we ordered.. 😀)
THE FOOD
The food was amazing. We did order a bit too much, to the point where I had a hard time from overeating. It is kind of always the case since Nat sniffs the food and says she's full, meaning I have to finish the rest. Anyways my fault too since I know this and we always order much. Here's what we had.
For a starter we had some calamari. It's something we often order.
Nat loves duck dishes so we had salad with duck. It had a pretty nice sauce made with mustard and honey.
Since it was kind of New Years I did have a glass of champagne as well. Don't know if I've mentioned it before but I don't usually drink alcohol unless it's a special occasion or something like that.
Next up is my favorite dish we had at the panoramic view Cafe from my last post. Here it was served in a coconut as the very first time I had it. It adds a bit more sweetness to it I guess and looks cooler. It's Seafood with spicey and sweet paste.. for the life of me I can't remember the name of this dish.
Well I was super full already but the piggy in me couldn't leave without having a dessert. Obviously we ordered two to try and Nat had a bite and gave up. And Yes I did finish it all..😀
I feel like the hotel itself looked smaller than the restaurant. I really liked how many trees and plants there were all throughout the place.
Overall I had a pretty nice time here and I'd recommend the place for sure. The prices weren't crazy, although they may be above average for Bangkok. The band was pretty good and I quite liked the music background. It seems like a thing here in Bangkok to have these big restaurants with super random decorations and I don't even feel like it's odd no more.
