Thursday is attic art day and for Day 54 of The 100 Day Project I was planning on making a birthday card for John. I'd already played around with some ideas and had cut out a guitar from an old book to be the focal point.
However, when I was ready to start I couldn't find the guitar. I thought I'd probably hidden it under some papers so, if John came into the attic, he wouldn't see it but I couldn't remember where I'd put it.
On first look I couldn't find the guitar anywhere but the pile of paper on my table didn't make it easy to look, which led me to a massive clear up.
I decided to go through all my "cleaning up" papers, i.e. the place I wipe off my paint brushes, stencils etc. I was determined to be quite picky about what I would keep and mostly tore off the bits that were most interesting rather than keeping the whole sheet.
Here's an example. This sheet was really grungy and not likely to be improved.
I tore out the bits I liked, threw most of the sheet away and ended up with just these pieces.
I worked my way through the whole pile, tearing and sorting as I went and filling up a big rubbish bag.

These are the torn pieces I kept. Not sure how I'll use them but I'm more than pleased with how much I disposed off and with the potential of the bits I kept.

My desk ended up looking like this.
These are the papers that still have potential to be developed further.

It was another gratifying clutter busting day but, sadly, I still haven't found the guitar.
Looks like I'm going to have to come up with another idea.
