This was the first time that i attend a Hive summit and it was some much fun, As my brother @masterwatch was presenting i had to come. Before i get into the actual meetings i just want to say Aachen is a really nice little city it giving me like mini Europe vibes. Obviously its really nice to young people around as there's around 60k students around which is a lot for Aachen.
Apparently this used to be the Gates into Aachen years ago but this building still stands tall thanks to German Craftmanship (;
Day 1 (Friday)
I pretty late in the Afternoon as i had a long train ride from Bremen after work, nonetheless i meet up with crew in a nice Vietnam Restaurant in the Heart of Aachen and after nice chat, we attended a nice movie called Freechain which was directed by @lordbutterfly about Hive and in general Blockchains. I learnt a lot from the movie as technically i am a newbie on Hive. The nice bar inside the movie Centre offered tasty beers we could take into the movie. After the movie we were all pretty tired from the Road and decided it was wise if we have nice sleep to be well prepared for Day 2.
Nice seating area outside the bar
Day 2 (Saturday)
Day 2 was packed with presentations from very complex presentations to very simple but engaging presentations.
Everybody got a tag printed out, and mine was a little different to others thanks to @masterswatch
The Panel discussion: that was a very interesting little test to all on stage setup by @detlev to test theses guys quick thinking on stage as they had to answer in a very short time.
@masterswatch on stage i wont go into the detail of @Worldmapping as many I'm sure used it before. But my brother presented very well as usual.
Yes that's us very proudly putting up the Hive flag outside the venue.
We definitely weren't hungry the whole day we had time to eat and had a unlimited supply of drinks
The Aachen church was such a sick place to meet up, so much space to host more people just very well picked by detlev.
Beer Saturday really nice German beer
Day 3
It was a slower, more relaxed day. We met up in the morning, started things off with a nice coffee, and then headed into the forest to learn more about Aachen’s history — especially its role during WWI and WWII. The walk was fascinating, not only because of the stories, but also because the forest itself lay right along the old border between Germany and Belgium. Standing there, it really put the history into perspective.
Concrete Spikes to stop the Tanks coming through.
Detlev hiding between the Trees on a weird structure that nobody knows what it was used for.
This is a 4 meter trench that stopped smugglers.
This Hive Fest was truly special to me, and it’s an experience I’ll definitely remember for a long time. A big thanks goes out to all the organisers for making it such a great event. It was inspiring to connect with so many amazing people from the community, and me and @masterswatch are already looking forward to the next Hive Fest — we’ll definitely be there!
Thank you for reading
