Happy Sunday dear creative Hivers, I hope you are all having a fun weekend, as we do, don't forget to get enough rest as well, to feel re-energized for the new week.
Glad to make it to another exciting edition of the Hive learners' creative Sunday. Where we share our creative talent and also get to learn from others.
As usual, I will be sharing with you my latest sewing project, which is on how to make a short-sleeve shirt with a collar. A common clothing with by both males and females.
I recently made this shirt and short outfit for a little 8 years old boy who lives in my neighbourhood. As he gift as he marks his 8th birthday.
Shirts are one of the easiest clothing to make, although the collar area might be complicated for some beginners, but with more practice, it gets easier.
The Materials Used are
-
light crepe fabric
-
thread
Cutting and Sewing Process
- I started by drafting and cutting out the back pattern of the shirt on fold, I measured out the neckline, chest, stomach, and shirt length.
- Using the back pattern, I extended the folded part to about 2.5 inches, which will be folded to form the button and button hole side of the center front
- Continuing, I joined the front and back by the shoulders
-
Then, I drafted the collar pattern, and I sewed and turned the collar pattern in neatly.
-
Then sewed the collar around the shirt neckline area.
-
Continuing, I drafted the short-sleeve pattern
-
Then fold the hem and sew it to both armhole areas of the shirt.
- Finally, I sewed the sides of the shirt and folded the hem of the base of the shirt neatly.
That completes the making process of the shirt.
