Hello dear creatie Hivers, I hope you are all having a good day. After a long while, the August break, the heavens decided to shower us with rain today.
Which, of course, we are grateful for, as our dried gardens and farms will come back alive, but the downside is that we are left to stay indoors today, no play for the children outside either today.
So I thought, why not make the best part of the weather and the indoor stay to get busy with some DIY? After going through my fabric store bag, I saw a few leftover pieces to work with, and I sure got busy with it, making shorts for my little one.
So without further ado, let's get right into the making process.
Materials Used
-
African print
-
Matching coloured thread
-
Elastic
Cutting And Sewing Process
- I started by drafting the front side of the shorts, cutting out the waist, hip, and crotch area. The front has two pattern pieces
- Next, using the front pattern, I extended it to cut the back pattern, which makes the back bigger than the front. The extension also serves as the seam allowance of the shorts. It also has two pattern pieces
- Continuing, I joined the front and back at the crotch area.
- Then I proceeded to join the front and back parts of the trousers by the sides
- I also sewed and joined the inseam area
- Then folded the hem of the shorts.
- Finally, I created a case for the elastic around the waist, then passed the elastic through it. And that completes the making process of the short. Look how cute my daughter looks in it.
Shorts are one of the easiest types of clothing to make, and are also comfortable to walk and play in. You can surely follow these easy steps to recreate yours. My daughter absolutely loved her new shorts and didn't want to take them off after fitting.
