Happy weekend, dear creative friends on Hive. I hope your weekend is going as expected, fun, relaxing, or still putting finishing touches on the week's project. Well, for me, I wanted a relaxing weekend and almost had my way with it, not until I found this beautiful fabric on my way to get some sewing supplies for the new week.
I pride myself on being a prudent spender, but I have a weakness for beautiful fabrics, and can't help but buy impulsively. No, I didn't have any plans to buy any fabrics at all, just some zippers, thread, etc ut seeing this beautiful floral print, I imagined my daughters in them, already having a style in mind, a two-sided gathered dress.
So I approached the vendor and got about 3 yards, which cost about $4, and off I went to get started on making the dress, because it will be the first Sunday tomorrow, which is always a Thanksgiving Sunday in our local church, so I want them adorned in a dress made with the beautiful floral print for church tomorrow. See how beautiful my girls look in their dresses.
So without further ado, let's get right into the making process.
Materials Used
-
Floral Crepe fabric
-
Satin lining
-
Zipper
-
Thread
Cutting And Sewing Process
- I started by cutting the upper side of the dress, using an off-the-shoulder pattern. I also shaped out the side where I would be adding the gathers
- Using the front pattern, I extended it on the middle to cut out the back pattern, forming the zipper allowance
- Next, I turned both front and back patterns using the lining. I also sewed a zipper to the back
- Continuing, I joined the sides of the front and back of the dress.
- Then I proceeded to cut out the side extensions
-
Which I gathered and joined to both sides of the dress
-
Finally, I added straps to the dress first,
- then went further to finish it up with a beautiful ruffle strap or sleeves. And that completes the making process of the dress.
Now I can spend the rest of the day taking the much rest I need, my daughters are excited for their new dresses, making me feel happy as well, they are so looking forward to wearing their beautiful dresses to church tomorrow.
